YBF Private Reserve Treatment Oil- reader reviewed and recommended
I have been testing a sample bottle of YBF Private Reserve Antioxidant Treatment Oil ($75 in the TIA shop) for the past four weeks. I am in my early 60s and look younger than my age. I don’t have too many wrinkles, but my age shows because of loss of tone in my skin and a few brown spots here and there. I didn’t know what to expect from Private Reserve, but I felt like it was probably something very special. I went ahead and started using it without researching first. I didn’t want to imagine things that weren’t happening. I used it morning and night immediately after washing. It was very light, not at all greasy, and didn’t rub off on anything. It left a dewy finish, and my skin felt smooth and soft. A drop went a long, long way. I didn’t notice anything outstandingly different while using Private Reserve, but the whole experience felt like I was doing something good for my skin. I wasn’t sure what until I finally decided to read up on the ingredients.
As its name implies, it is an oil - an antioxidant treatment oil, to be specific. What it doesn’t say is that it is a superior antioxidant among other things. What is an antioxidant and why is it important? We have all heard the word forever and perhaps only think we know what it means. I learned that antioxidants act as “free-radical scavengers,” thereby preventing and repairing damage done by these free radicals. When our body cells use oxygen, they naturally produce free radicals (by-products), which can cause damage. This now begs the question: what is a free radical? They are normal oxygen-bearing units that wander off their intended paths of usefulness.
Understanding more clearly about antioxidants and free radicals, I decided to look up each ingredient because I was curious as to why this is such a special product with only four ingredients!
Meadowfoam is a plant native to the Northwestern United States and western Canada. It received its name because of its resemblance, while in bloom, to the white foam blowing on the ocean. It has amazing moisturizing and rejuvenating capabilities, remains very stable, and is capable of adhering and staying on the skin. It also offers ultra-violet protection. Bottom line: It is a super-antioxidant that prevents skin-cell damage and offers superior hydration.
Spin trap is not technically an antioxidant but has the same goals as an antioxidant. In fact, spin trap is better than an antioxidant because the more spin trap you have, the better (you can have too many antioxidants). Spin trap deals with free radicals not by destroying them, but by redirecting them to their intended goal of tissue repair.
Lipochroman-6 is a high-potency antioxidant that has 20 times the antioxidant activity of gamma-tocopherol (vitamin E). It protects the skin against UVA light and helps keep essential oils in cosmetics from spoiling. It was formulated to enhance and restore the radiance of the complexion.
Sandalwood oil is an essential oil - a lovely aromatic one. Many articles have been published demonstrating its ability to prevent skin cancers and moisturize dry skin.
Wow, only four ingredients yet each delivers superior protection! Even if you don’t notice any miraculous results on the outside, Private Reserve is working behind the scenes, preventing skin damage and disease - just like traditional vitamins! I have always felt that we shouldn’t only be trying to hide the problems on our skin or enhance the look of it; we should also feed it lots of good things so it will stay healthy and always look beautiful. I really like the idea of using this product as my skin vitamin… it makes me feel as if I am doing something really healthy for my skin. I also feel that the longer I use this product, the softer and more radiant my skin will look. I can’t imagine what Private Reserve would have done had I started using it 20 years ago!
