5 Product Pairs That Work Better Together

Collection of skin care
August 1, 2017 Reviewed by Marta 0 Comments

I recently celebrated my 26th wedding anniversary and while we have had — like any couple — our ups and downs, I know that two is better than one. The power of the pair extends to many things in life, not least skin care. I have found that there are some compelling combinations that surmount the sum of their parts to give even better results. Cutting across bands, finding off label uses and doubling up, keep reading to learn how I team up the anti-aging products in my arsenal. Remember, teamwork makes the dream work.

Nighttime Treatment + Antioxidant-Rich Oil

Your Best Face Restore ($130 in the shop) and Your Best Face Private Reserve Slumber Blend ($80 in the shop). Restore is aptly named. It moisturizes, gently resurfaces and brightens the skin overnight with three powerful peptide combinations. Slumber Blend is an oil with YBF’s signature spin trap for eliminating free radicals and a herbal blend that almost guarantees a good night’s sleep. Layer them before bed for smooth and supple skin come morning.

Spot Treatment + Skin Brightening Cream

Medik8 White Balance Click ($80 in the shop) and Skin 2 Skin Photoaging Repair Cream ($69 in the shop). When it comes to hyperpigmentation, I like to target existing stubborn areas and use a lightening serum for overall evening out and prevention. White Balance Click is a clever kojic acid product that goes straight where I need it (leopard spots, freckles) and S2S Photoaging is the perfect serum (powered by brightening peptides) for all over the face and neck.

Exfoliating Peel + Body Serum

Volante Radiant Glow Body Firming Serum ($95 in the shop) and Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel ($88 in the shop). This combo revitalizes those neglected body parts like nothing else. The good doctor’s peel pads are a convenient, fast and highly effective way to treat crepey, wrinkled skin and especially those tough areas like knees and elbows. Follow with Volante’s unique Matrixyl-enriched body serum for a really youthful glow and smoother appearance.

Preventative Day Cream + Wrinkle-Relaxer

Simply Venom Day Cream ($59 in the shop) and Ao Skincare Fortify Day Treatment ($89.95 in the shop). Neuropeptides are a very useful component in our anti-aging arsenals as they help prevent and control expression lines. This is where serums like Simply Venom based on the Syn-ake peptide come in. It is great for targeting expression lines around the eyes and lips. I like to round it out with a great antioxidant-based day cream such as Ao Fortify with important vitamins and ferulic acid to prevent the UV and free radical damage that lead to the formation of lines and wrinkles.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum + Vitamin C Treatment

Sciote Super Moist Hyaluronic Serum ($75 in the shop) and Dr. Dennis Gross C+ Collagen Brighten and Firm Vitamin C Serum ($78 in the shop). I was told by the Sciote formulators awhile back that following application with hyaluronic acid pushes the actives from other serums and creams deeper into the skin where they can interact with cells faster. So, I top off my application of DDG’s new vitamin C serum, which is formulated to fuel cells for increased collagen production and accelerated repair, with a layer of Super Moist. The results are almost immediate.
