One of the wonderful things about Truth In Aging is that we get to share with our community new and innovative skincare brands – companies that care about what they are putting into their formulations and actually deliver the results they promise. We also get to know the faces behind the brands and enjoy hearing what drives their passion. Here, a few brand founders tell us their favorite anti-agers from their own lines and offer sage skincare advice.
Darrell Owens, founder of Your Best Face
YBF Antioxidants Concentrate ($65 in the shop). This powerhouse product is made almost entirely of active ingredients. Though it works great blended with other skincare products and your favorite sunscreen, I use it daily as a light, standalone face cream.
YBF Prep Microdermabrasion ($80 in the shop). Whenever you exfoliate is the best time to infuse skin with quality actives. Prep is, in essence, an incredible pore-clearing and skin-brightening cream that we happened to have turned into an effective but gentle exfoliator. We call it our rock star in a jar. Like all good rock stars, Prep should only make an appearance in your routine at night (as daytime exfoliation leads to increased sun sensitivity and increased dark spots).
YBF Boost ($65 in the shop). Wild swings in summer temps and humidity lead to troubled skin and more frequent breakouts. Boost moisturizes, but also helps calm and balance skin. During the warm season, I suggest using Boost as your nighttime moisturizer – and just wait until you try Boost following a treatment with Prep – DIVINE!
Expert Tip: Mineral sunscreens mixed with great antioxidants skincare potions (such as our Antioxidants Concentrate or Advanced CE Concentrate) are your skin’s absolute best friends. Only exfoliate at night and like Marta says, use a damned good eye cream and you will see cumulative results and skin you’ll love and be proud of.

Dr. Teri Dourmashkin, founder of La Vie Celeste
LVC Restorative Exfoliating Cleanser ($40). I love this cleanser because it not only oil and fragrance free, but it also has no detergents that can dry out the skin. The texture is also unique (between a lotion and a gel) and has super-gentle mother of pearl to help exfoliate the skin. It feels like liquid silk, and I love how it feels on my skin.
LVC Original Day & Night Face Cream ($65 in the shop). This is the cream I personally use and was the first product I ever developed. I love it because it is very rich yet leaves a creamy matte finish – no greasy residue whatsoever. It is a great anti-aging multitasking cream.
LVC Eclairage Restorative Serum ($98.50 in the shop). Our newest addition – I am in love with this product! It has a beautiful texture, is totally non-greasy and non-sticky and absorbs almost immediately. It leaves skin super soft, more even toned and can aid in reducing hyperpigmentation – another great multitasker!
Expert Tip: We've all heard it a million times, but I would have to say that my all-time best skincare tip is to stay out of the sun, at least for the purpose of tanning. Some exposure to sunlight can be healthy as it is a good source of vitamin D, but I have always used caution in this area. Lying in the sun for sun-tanning purposes not only causes skin to look older (we can all spot that ultra-tan/leathery look), but it can also significantly contribute to skin cancer. Use a good daily sunblock – even on cloudy and rainy days.

Brad Hunter, founder of BRAD Biophotonic
BRAD Ultra Peel ($175). This product really delivers! This is your exfoliant, lightener, brightener and pore tightener all in one product. Used a couple nights a week on clean skin, followed by the Ultra Elastin Lift and Ultra Elastin Cream, it is a complete facial.
BRAD Ultra Elastin Lift ($210). Excellent for the entire face and eye area, the Ultra Elastin Lift is a concentrate of bio-fermented peptides and antioxidants that is like a vacation for the skin. Used twice a day on clean skin, it will help to heal, repair and re-build the skin.
BRAD Ultra Elastin Cream ($195). A cream concentrate that contains a mild version of the products above, plus many more. It’s excellent for day (small amounts where needed) and night if you need that one anti-aging go-to product. This cream melts into the skin with no residue and will balance all skin types. It works great around the eyes as well.
Expert Tip: As the skin ages, it is important to continually exfoliate with plant acids. This type of exfoliation gently loosens and lifts old and damaged cells, allowing fresh healthy ones to surface. A manual exfoliation can cause friction and damage the pores.

Lewis Hendler, founder of Michael Todd True Organics
Michael Todd Honey and Oat Cleanser ($24). This is a very gentle and delicious-smelling cleanser that effectively removes all makeup – even eye makeup – and cleanses the skin thoroughly without stripping the acid mantle.
Michael Todd KNU Anti-Aging Face Lift ($69). It tightens the skin, boosts collagen production, helps fade pigmentation and helps with various other skin conditions. It is packed with antioxidants to fight free-radical damage to the skin and is your all-in-one anti-aging and skin-improving product!
Michael Todd Intensive Organic Eye Cream ($38). This is such a luxurious eye cream. It contains the most effective ingredients on the market to improve dark circles and puffiness, and moisturizes the eye area well. This cream targets those fine little stubborn lines under the eye that are so hard to get rid of!
Expert Tip: The best skincare advice I’ve learned over the years is to never go to bed without cleansing your skin and applying your skincare products. Our skin regenerates best during sleep and absorbs skincare products best when the body is at rest. By applying your products during the evening, you’ll be sure to reap the most benefits from your products. We always recommend giving your skin a mini facial about two nights per week. Use gentle exfoliating products to remove dead skin cells and prepare the skin for serums and/or moisturizers. This helps give you a more even skin tone.
