Some may experience sticker shock, but it's well worth the price

I used Pure Glam Performance Luxury Wash Shampoo and Daily Conditioner ($26.99) as my only shampoo/conditioner thirty times over the course of fifty days.

I’m 59 and have combination oily/dry skin. My hair is ash blonde, a little thick and graying some at the top and it has always been oily. I’ve never used a volumizing shampoo and started using conditioner recently because the gray hairs are feeling a little course. Normally I use shampoos specifically for highlighted blonde hair.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this product. My hair is fairly short so I was a little worried that when I used it I would look like a frizzed kitty. Not so. It’s quite nice. There are four things about the product I want to touch on.

First, the packaging is great. Both the shampoo and conditioner come in a brushed aluminum-type pump dispenser; so you can easily control how much product you need for your hair length. They don’t take up a lot of room in the shower, each 8 oz. dispenser is 7” tall (including pumper) and 2” in diameter. I am a bit of a neat freak, and hate big bottles of stuff in my shower. These fit perfectly.

Second, the fragrance is very nice, kind of a citrus minty mix, very refreshing. I don’t wear perfume and don’t foresee a clash of fragrances if I did.

Third, it is organic. I’ve had sensitivity problems in the past with other organic hair products, but no problem whatsoever with these. Some of the ingredients read like your produce market list, pink grapefruit, spearmint, sweat almond protein, etc.

Fourth, I was a little skeptical of the price tag - $26.99 each; however, when I consider the results, it’s worth it. Let me explain. I always wash my hair every day. Always. In the summer, I may wash my hair two and worst case scenario, three times if I’m out in the garden on a wretchedly humid day. With this product, I haven’t had to wash my hair as much. I’ve used two pumps per use about fifty times and still have about half a bottle remaining of each.

I’m not saying that someone who is outside in hot, miserable conditions won’t have to wash their hair, but the number of days I needed to wash my hair everyday decreased dramatically. I now wash it every other day at the most. Sometimes I can now skip washing my hair to the third day. This is unheard of for me.

As for the volumizing aspect of the shampoo, it’s a little weird for me to feel my hair so thick while washing it. When I first felt this phenomenon I was worried, but the results were great. The conditioner is a must. It made my hair soft and it feels wonderful. I find myself touching it often and never did that before.

I’ve kept my hair short for about 25 years, getting a haircut every three weeks. This product has given me the confidence to change my hairstyle. Yes, I’m letting it grow and haven’t cut it for about six weeks. It feels really great.

Here’s another plus. I had to go out of town and had to resort to the shampoo in my travel kit, my old cheap stand-by. Wow, the results were unbelievable. Kind of like my hair kept special qualities from the use of Pure Glam Performance Luxury Wash Shampoo and Daily Conditioner. I wouldn’t go back to using the old cheap products as I once did, but it’s nice to know that the products made a real difference in my hair and is definitely worth the investment.

Editor's Note: These products were previously called Organic Beauty Now Green+Glam Volume Shampoo and Daily Conditioner.

Reading the shampoo ingredient it's not gluten free.....I'm concerned with long term effects of gluten, especially going into my scalp and brain. Will have to pass.

What a great and thorough review. I swallowed a bit hard when I read the price of $54 for both shampoo and conditioner, but your review has me very tempted, especially since you may not need to use it every day. Thank you Jeanne and TIA!18

Thank you for a great review Jeanne. I'm always looking out for good natural hair products. I was using Green + Glam's hair spray (or I was until my husband stole it) and found it excellent.
