An effective, pleasant-to-use peel for all but the most sensitive skin types

by Lynne

The arrival of  PureCeuticals Multi-Enzyme Pumpkin Peel ($44) was perfectly timed with the coming of fall.

I’m a 40-something year old, with normal to combination skin, and some stubborn sun damage. (And yes I wear sunscreen!). I love a good mask, and this one excelled in performance, texture and scent. It is recommended to use this peel weekly, which I did for over four weeks. I was very pleased with this peel. The aroma is simply delicious—the pumpkin invoked fall leaves, pumpkin pie and crisp autumn days.

PureCeuticals promises that the Multi-Enzyme Pumpkin Peel -- recommended for all skin types except ultra sensitive skin -- will "...improve skin’s clarity and texture. Enzymes from pumpkin, pineapple and papaya will leave the skin looking renewed and radiant." So did it work as promised? Mostly, yes.

I applied a thin layer of the peel, which is creamy with some flecks of fruit in it, and left it on for the full ten minutes. I don't have sensitive skin, and I did not experience any tingling or redness. When the time was up, I massaged the peel into my skin to exfoliate with the fruit enzymes, and rinsed off. My skin was left looking smooth and glowing. I did not need to further moisturize, and the slight scent of pumpkin was left on my skin. This peel overall made my skin brighter, although I can’t say it significantly lightened my persistent dark spots.

Overall this one is a winner for me, and I would use it again. Note that this product does contain phenoxyethanol. This is an ingredient that I usually choose to avoid, but since this is a once a week peel, I’m willing to make an exception. You can read what Truth In Aging has to say about phenoxyethanol here.
