Reader Review Juice Organics Brightening Facial Serum

I couldn't wait to write this review for the Juice Organics Brightening Facial Serum. Literally. In order to be fair and give every product a reasonable opportunity to "do its' magic", I would normally test a product for at least 30 days before giving a thumbs up or down.  But after just 7 days of use the verdict is already in, and it gets an overwhelming thumbs up from this hard-to-please 50-year old cheapskate.

So now to the juicy details, cheesy pun not intended.  I started seeing results with my first application of Juice Organics Brightening Facial Serum ($19.99). I don't know exactly how it works, but I know it absolutely works for me. My face was instantly smoother, my pores were visibly smaller, and there was a slight but not unpleasant or freakish "face-lift-gone-wrong" tightening of the skin, which resulted in a reduction of fine wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. And while the Brightening Facial Serum is not a substitute for a moisturizer, it was the perfect prep canvas for my foundation/blush, which remained flawless 12 hours later! The Brightening Facial Serum is also supposed to even out my skin tone over time, which I assume to mean that, with ongoing use, the freckling that is a reminder of youthful sun damaging days at the beach might diminish. The only negative I can include about the product is that the serum scent reminded me of white paste glue...although the "au de Elmer" smell did dissipate quickly.

I stumbled onto the Juice Organics product line, and am glad I did. A friend of mine uses the Juice Beauty product line, created by the same company which offers the Juice Organics Brightening Facial Serum, and I became curious enough about the differences to do a little (and I do mean a little) research.  The Juice Beauty line my friend uses has a higher concentration of active ingredients, and a longer list of active ingredients, and consequently commands a higher price tag. But the smart folks at Juice Beauty/Organics recognized that not everyone is willing or able to fork over big cashola for everyday beauty potions, yet if given a choice, A) everyone wants beautiful skin and B) no one wants to slather on products which include known or suspected cancer causing agents to get a great look. Enter Juice Organics.... the "drugstore consumer" version of the product line, which is based on the same research, healthful principals and primary natural ingredients, but offered at a different price point. Big fat bonus: the entire product line seems to be priced under $20, and it is available at retail drug and grocery stores, plus the web site ( currently shows free shipping for orders over $25.00.

All Juice Organics' skin care products are free of harsh paraben preservatives, synthetic fragrances, petroleum derivatives, artificial dyes, harsh sulfates, and phthalates or toluene. Juice Organics has a strict no animal testing policy and contains 100% vegetarian ingredients.

Overly simplified, the budget minded Juice Organics product line is divided into three main categories: cleanse, treat and moisturize.  Within these three categories are two primary "versions" of the product lines.... one based around pomegranates/grapes, and one based on apples/lemons.  The creators use these  certified organic "juices" in lie of the typical "water" ingredient found in most lotions/potions.  I have tried only the Brightening Facial Serum, but next on my prospect list is the pomegranate  PomPeptide Lifting Facial Moisturizer  and the PomBerry Lip Amplifier. Also listed on the web site as "coming soon" is a hair care line, but nothing seems to be available yet.

More reviews on the Juice Organics products to come in 2009, so stay tuned! Happy New Year to all!
