I was one of the lucky winners to test ReCreate, a natural anti-aging foundation with Wrinkle Rewind™ Technology SPF 15 in Cool Sands. I have been in search for a perfect foundation (being the skincare and makeup snob that I am) for quite some time and I think I may have almost found one …albeit I will recommend it with some reservations.

The makers of  Recreate suggest you can “turn over a new leaf with the first ever natural anti-aging foundation with Wrinkle Rewind™ technology” and they are not being coy. Recreate has decent anti-aging ingredients: goji berry extract (“nutrient dense berry often referred to as a 'super fruit' due to its numerous nutritional benefits” ), peat extract ("natural plant extract that moisturizes and preserves the skin"), wheat extract ( "natural protein that helps retain water and moisture in the skin"), mineral pigments “to soothe and soften the skin,” and palmitoyl hexapeptide-14, a peptide that stimulates collagen production and  reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

It is free of fragrance, mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, synthetic dye, talc or phthalates. In addition, the packaging is recyclable. And, of course, SPF 15 is a nice bonus. However, there are a few potentially irritating preservatives one could do without: sodium dehydroacetate, phenoxyethanol, and propylene glycol. That’s my biggest qualm with the product.

The pump mechanism is slightly disappointing: it takes a few “pumps” to get it to work. You also need to shake the bottle a bit as sometimes the product gets separated. I was not sure what shade would suit my medium skin but “Cool sands” fit me to a T. As far as the texture goes, the foundation feels velvety and goes on pretty smooth. It is a bit matte. It gives you this natural, slightly sun-kissed look. It provides great coverage: all my post acne marks and imperfections disappeared. It tends to get slightly dry as you pat it on face so it helps to smooth it out really quickly or add just a dollop of your favorite moisturizer. More importantly, it stays put all day. My skin looks great when I wear it and I have been getting lots of compliments from my significant other on how “fresh” my face looks.

I must say that being in my early thirties, I am lucky not have any fine lines and wrinkles yet, so I have not noticed any visible “anti-aging” effects. I suspect, though, for those who want to have peace of mind in knowing that their foundation (apart from its immediate purpose) packs additional skincare and sun protection benefits, this product may fit the bill.

Same here, Sandra. I would only recommend this to people want full coverage. I felt like it was too obvious on my skin, which made me look older. I like Abella Colorshade, also recommended on this site, much better.

I have also tried this foundation, but my experience was not great. First, be aware that the shades are actually darker than you might expect. My very light shade went on far too dark for my skin, making me look "made up," and then made my skin break out. It is quite matte and provides a heavier coverage than I want. Not a keeper for me.
