I, like most people with curly hair, put a lot of time into propagating the illusion that this is a physical attribute like any other, completely effortless- it just grows out of my head. If I wear my hair curly, I want you to think that I just waltzed out of the shower and let it dry naturally; if I wear it straight, I want you to think that I was born that way.

Unfortunately, in both cases, this is an elaborate hoax used to cover up countless hours spent in a dark world of revitalising shampoos, curling conditioners, moisturising masks, relaxing balms, hair soufflés, heat-protectors, protein sprays, five different brands of finishing crèmes,a turbo-power hair-dryer, a giant diffuser and two sets of ceramic hair straighteners. Mastering the art of curl control is a serious matter, not to be taken lightly.

So needless to say, I jumped at the chance to review TRESemmé’s professional formula curl hydration lotion crème. I couldn’t help but be filled with hope, even after so many similar disappointments, when very excitingly, the bottle promised “flawless curls”. Of course, however, this is a tall order which it does not deliver. But, be that as it may, despite an inflated ego, this is not a bad product.

My hair was certainly much shinier and my curls soft and more defined. Sadly, the problem with shinier hair, as with many of these products, is the down-side of it looking unwashed and greasy much faster. A big deal when washing and drying your hair can take up to three hours. However, the initial effect is a good one and, at $21.85 for a pack of 6 on Amazon, definitely value for money.

Nonetheless, there are better products on the market and I am willing to spend a little bit more in the never-ending quest for hair heaven. That’s not to say I won’t be finishing this bottle though…

I read your review of Tresemme Curl Hydration Lotion Creme. It may not be
perfect, i.e. The bottle is so small with the head of hair I have, I could use it all in one application. but cannot afford it.
But, is certainly the best I have come across. Thanks for the tip on the savings on Amazon. If there are any better deals
with folks with long thick heads of curly hair, keep passing them out. Love from Kathy in KY
