A delightful, inexpensive lotion.

Healthy, hydrated and refreshed-feeling skin

Flip-top bottle makes it hard to control how much product comes out

With it’s minimalist black and white packaging, it’s easy to pass over Rebecca’s Makes Sense Organic Argan Oil Hand & Body Lotion (14.95) without a second thought.  But looks are deceiving, as this product is an absolute treat!

First, a bit about the company. Rebecca’s Makes Sense is a family-owned business located in Vermont.  All of their products are made in small batches to ensure freshness and high quality control; are free of mineral oils, sulfates, parabens, propylene glycol, phthalates, dyes or synthetic preservatives; are packaged in recyclable, earth-friendly bottles and meet vegan and cruelty-free guidelines.

I started using Rebecca’s Makes Sense Organic Argan Oil Hand & Body Lotion around the time autumn’s noticeable chill had set in. Like clockwork every year, my body responds to the change in seasons with itchy, dry (and sometimes flaky) skin, particularly on my legs. While I do and fight back by stepping up by moisturizing game, thick body creams or butters don’t seem to be a solution for me. They’re too greasy, and I find that they "coat" my skin more than they actually hydrate it.

So, needless to say, my interest was peaked when I saw that Rebecca’s Makes Sense Organic Argan Oil Hand & Body Lotion promised to be a “silky smooth, light lotion that absorbs easily without greasiness” despite containing rich, hydrating oils.

The texture of the lotion is unique (almost like a hybrid lotion/gel), and my skin drinks it up instantly. However, don’t let the fact that its fast absorbing make you question its moisturizing power. It made my skin feel healthy, hydrated and refreshed--almost as though I had put on no moisturizer at all but had naturally balanced skin--and no itchiness or flakiness!

The scent was like a breath of fresh air, literally--specifically ocean air.  The awapuhi and seaberry fragrance is what I imagine the beach on a tropical island to smell like: crisp, cool and mildly floral. Rebecca’s Make Senses Organic Argan Oil Hand & Body Lotion also comes in Egyptian Garden, White Tea and Ginger and even unscented for those sensitive to fragrances.

The secret to the hydrating success of Rebecca’s Makes Sense Organic Argan Oil Hand & Body Lotion is their combination of organic seed oils, including jojoba, almond and calendula.  The star ingredient here is argan oil, which has potent antioxidant properties.  Its high levels of vitamin E, ferulic acid and squaline aid in protection against environmental and UV damage while also promoting cell regeneration.

However, my one complaint about Rebecca’s Makes Sense Organic Argan Oil Hand & Body Lotion is the flip-top bottle packaging, which makes it hard to control how much product comes out, and I will probably struggle to get out the last bits of lotion. I would much prefer a squeeze tube or a pump.

Overall though, Rebecca’s Makes Sense Organic Argan Oil Hand & Body Lotion is a delightful lotion to keep my skin balanced and dry flakes at bay without being slippery.  For the price, I will definitely make sure to always have one on my nightstand and can’t wait to try one of their other fragrances!
