Makes for noticeable softer skin

We’ve been getting to know Red Flower’s cleansers (the Lymphatic Phytopower Sea Cleanser is a new favorite of mine) and scrubs (Berry White Peat, for example, or the Ohana Gingergrass). But would Red Flower power be sustained throughout the range? I grabbed a bottle of the Red Flower French Lavender Moisturizing Body Lotion ($26) and put it through its paces. It turned out to be such a skin softener that even my husband noticed.

Red Flower French Lavender Moisturizing Body Lotion is very moisturizing and has plenty of natural skin-conditioning ingredients, as well as some with anti-aging properties. Chamomile and rose extracts in a water base are the most dominant ingredients.

There’s a ton of research validating rose’s anti-aging potency. According to researchers in the UK, rose extract demonstrated anti-collagenase, anti-elastase, and antioxidant activities and those antioxidant activities are nearly as high as those of white tea (source). Rose flower extract actually prolongs life – at least that of flies in an experiment conducted in 2008 and of mice, according to Chinese researchers.

Chamomile is a conditioner that enhances the appearance of dehydrated or damaged skin by reducing dry flaking and restoring suppleness to the skin. The plant’s flowers are rich in flavonoids (namely apigenin, quercetin, patuletin and luteolin), which contribute to the ingredient’s anti-inflammatory properties.

There’s also evening primrose, rich in (omega-6) fatty acids, including linoleic acid (LA) gamma linoleic acid (GLA). The rest of the formula is fairly straightforward with safflower oil, shea butter and vitamin E.

Ingredients: chamomile (anthemis nobilis) whole flower extract (&) water, rose (rosa damascena) whole flower extract (&) water, safflower (carthamus tinctorius) seed oil, sweet almond (prunus amygdalis dulcis) oil, vegetable wax, vegetable glycerin, shea (butyrospermum parkii) nut butter, plant-derived organic alcohol, evening primrose (oenothera biennis) oil, vitamin e (d-alpha tocopheryl acetate), plant-based preservative (glucono delta lactone), potassium sorbate, beeswax, lavender fragrance oils and essential oils of orange peel oil, romarin oil, lavender oil and eucalyptus leaf oil
