This is a rich, night-time cream with full body benefits

What a lovely lotion this is! Red Flower Tangerine Fig Butter Creme ($54) uses a combination of essential oils, nut, plant and fruit extracts – all chosen for their therapeutic properties. The list of ingredients reads like a wonderful antioxidant salad with yummies like shea butter, olive oil, fig and apricot kernel oils, as well as various citrus fruit extracts and coffee. The only potential nasty is the preservative, phenoxyethanol. I’d rather have a preservative than no preservative, in this case, as the lotion comes in a big jar. A (seemingly) six-month supply that might not keep fresh otherwise.

The creme is quite rich and souffle-like, making it, in my opinion, more ideal to use as a nighttime moisturizer. Even though it’s rich, the lotion absorbs quickly and does not sit on top of my skin. I’ve been mainly using this on my feet, elbows and knees, which has resulted in noticeably softer skin in those areas.

Now that I’ve experienced the softening and hydrating benefits (with 3/4 of a jar remaining), I will start using it on the rest of my body (excluding my face). In my excitement to start using this creme, I missed the fact that coffee is listed as the third ingredient! Since the caffeine and theophylline in coffee reduces puffiness, decreases cellulite, is known to tighten and shrink blood vessels... AND is the third ingredient, I may not be maximizing on all of the potential benefits!

The fragrance is lovely... a little bit of sweet citrus mingled with a soothing earthy aroma. Initially, it seems strong but dissipates quickly. At $54 a jar, it definitely isn’t a bargain, but would make a wonderful gift, as it comes in a very pretty glass jar and packaging. I’m anxious to try some of the other products in the Red Flower line.
