Provides adequate sun protection and doubles as a tinted moisturizer

Contains potentially irritating chemical sunscreens

Replenix Antioxidant Sunscreen Moisturizer ($39.50) packs a punch with effective ingredients that protect your skin from the sun. What’s more, it doubles as a moisturizer. I’m in my 40s and have fair skin, so I was excited to test this product over the summer. Plus, I was confident that I would be pleased with this product since I already fell in love with the exfoliating scrub by Replenix.

This sunscreen does use both chemical blocks like oxybenzone and physical ones like zinc oxide to shield against UVA and UVB rays, so it isn’t for purists. As the name implies, it is also full of free radical fighting antioxidants to help protect from premature aging. You’ll find vitamin E, ectoin and green tea polyphenols among the list. Extracts of bisabolol, squalene and sodium hyaluronate hydrate and nourish the skin.

As suggested, I applied the sunscreen 15 minutes before I went out in the sun. It smeared easily and absorbed quickly without a sticky feel or smell of traditional sunscreens. I re-applied every two hours or more, depending on what activity I was doing at the time. When I was on vacation in Florida and brought this sunscreen with, I didn't burn at all.  It proved effective even on the most hot and humid days.

I should also note that during the trial, I was able to cut down on my makeup routine in the morning. Because this sunscreen has a light tint, I skipped foundation. You could use it as a primer or just skip foundation entirely, depending on your preference of what coverage you prefer. For me, this worked perfectly as a tinted moisturizer. My skin glowed and felt soft and luxurious after application. It was definitely more hydrated than before! I used to rely on foundation for that "radiant look," but this sunscreen gives the same effect!

I am a very fair skinned person and Replenix Antioxidant Sunscreen Moisturizer worked fantastic for me! I highly recommend it if you don’t mind chemical sunscreens.

Would you consider testing the Replenix UltiMATTE™ Perfection SPF 50+ (contains only physical sunscreens no chemical) and the Replenix Sheer Physical Sunscreen Cream SPF 50+ ? I am curious if they perform well as primers since that is also the claim for the first one I mentioned and it would be great to be able to have a product that works as a primer/sunscreen that had only zinc in it! :-)
