I have had about ten "treatments" of microdermabrasion in both a doctor's office and in a spa setting. I am fond of the procedure. I always feel as though the tiny bits of sand pummeling my face and décolleté through the machine are bound to be doing something restorative to my skin. Afterward, my face is always flushed and shiny, the texture seems different, and all signs of dullness are gone. My face feels and looks renewed, reinvigorated, the pores seem smaller and the results last a good 3 weeks to one month.

Although I like microdermabrasion, I do believe it is a pricey indulgence for short-term gain. Therefore, I was more than interested when I saw the offer in Truth in Aging’s newsletter to try  and review REVERSITAL 3-in-1 MicrodermaStick. I was determined to find out if a home remedy likening itself to microdermabrasion could possibly mimic the refreshing results of the "real thing."

The instruction pamphlet states that for best results, use 3 to 4 times per week. Also, avoid the eye area and do not use just after shaving. Oh, and this product can be used on the face and neck as well as the body. Now for the drum roll and my review...I give Reversital a thumbs-up/worthy product endorsement.

I applied my easy-to-use stick for 3 weeks at 3 times each week. Although I do not believe the stick is able to refine my pores- thus deeply cleaning them- as well as the doctor's microdermabrasion, I do think it is a worthy investment (approx. $129) to perform an easy home revitalization. The instructions say: “To moisten skin and then moisten the top of your ‘stick’ (about 2 in. wide), then gently massage with circular motion for approximately 10 seconds. Then rinse off, which activates hydration, leaving a moisture ‘shield’ on your face.”

This feeling of hydration is a high point and very pleasant and unique. I have sensitive skin, so initially, I was a bit wary that the "stick" might be somewhat too rough for me.  I was wrong, so much so that I began to alter my use...after the instructed circular motion for 10 seconds, I additionally applied a minute more of circular motions over my face with my hands, and then rinsed. I cannot suggest this modification to everyone, but having sensitive skin, I was pleasantly surprised to be able to "add" to my beauty routine. My face tingles and feels clean and hydrated each time. I know it is sloughing off dead skin as I see the shiny pinkness each time. Also, my skin texture appears livelier.

My pores are not noticeably smaller yet but I cannot rule out that possibility down the road. It is a little expensive to use on my body, so I will continue with my tried and true loofah and body scrub there, but otherwise, I like the results I see on my face, neck and décolleté.
