One of THE most important aspects of aging well is staying limber and physically active, and towards that end I am a huge believer in the health benefits of massage.  I used to explain (somewhat sheepishly) to people that I "treated" myself to a two-hour massage every month, but I no longer look at massage as a reward or a treat, although it IS a divine experience.  For some strange reason, we seem to think that anything that is truly good for us has to either taste bad, hurt, or require major sacrifice. Cleary that is not so with massage and these two-hour sessions have become an integral part of my wellness program, just like eating well, and getting enough sleep and exercise.  I have even started a mini massage program for my horses, which has resulted in fewer injuries and an astoundingly contented herd of hay burners!

In addition to all of the typical benefits of massage, I am always impressed with the way the skin all over my body looks and feels after having soothing body oil rubbed into it for two hours. It is mildly exfoliated, deeply moisturized, rosy in color from the physical stimulation, and it smells great. I have often tried to replicate that great look and feeling at home but have had little success. Until now.

The nice people at SKINN recently sent me a pot of their Sweet and Smooth Body Polish to test, and I absolutely love it.

I rub a small handful all over my body for a few minutes at the end of my shower (paying particular attention to knees and elbows), rinse it off, and marvel at how great my skin looks and feels immediately.  The texture of the body polish starts out as slightly abrasive...  apparently I am rubbing large grains of cane sugar into my skin.... which seems to be just enough time and texture to smooth off dead skin without leaving me roughed up.  Within 30 seconds, the sugar is gone and the heavenly smelling mixture morphs into a deeply moisturizing and slightly tacky coating, which works to seal in the moisture now contained deep within my skin.  By the time I am ready to towel off, the product has penetrated deeply, leaving only a lovely sheen and a scent that is delightfully sweet and clean.  Did I mention that I love it?

If I choose to apply my normal body moisturizer after a few minutes, it is still possible although not necessary. And no wonder.... once I read all the ingredients it seems that it contains every type of natural moisturizer currently known to mankind. And just as important...nothing on the TIA no-no list! Did I mention that I love it? The instructions call for using it at least twice per week, but it just smells so good and leaves my skin feeling so great that I am now making up excuses to use it almost daily.  The one and only warning I might include is that I wouldn't recommend it for use on rough heels and feet if you are showering, as it will leave your skin a bit slippery..... too slippery for me on a wet shower floor.

If you are looking for an inexpensive way to treat your olfactory senses and banish the last traces of dry and flaky winter skin, I can't think of any more delightful way to start or end your day than making a shower date with Skinn's Sweet and Smooth Body Polish.

Did I mention that I love it?

    Hi Sarah,

Where can we purchase COCONUT Spa? I tried to find it on Amazon, but many different results popped up, and I wasn't sure which one it was. Do you know what company makes it, or who it is by? Or is there a special place we can purchase it? The Moringa body scrub I'm using form the Body Shop is running out, and I'm looking to try the next best scrub. Thank you.

Thanks for the Coconut Spa suggestion. It's on my shopping list. I too am looking for something to help me eek out the lifetime of Malie.

There's another fantastic product which sounds very similar that I have been alternating with the Malie scrub, called COCONUT SPA - it's a coconut sugar body scrub which is free of all chemicals and additives. There's a lime scented or a natural version and it contains 100% virgin coconut oil, sugar cane crystals, pure essential oils of lemon and lime. It's very moisturizing and I don't put anything else on after a shower (well apart from clothes, obviously).

    Hi Michelle,

Yes, you could either replace your current body scrub, or use this as a wonderfully moisturizing followup treatment after your current body scrub. The cane sugar grains only "scrub" for about 15 seconds before melting, so if you prefer a really deep exfoliation, you could continue to use what is already working and then top it off with this fantastic potion. It will leave your skin glowing (without roughing it up too much) and deeply moisturized. The scent is devine.

I absolutely love Skinn's line also. My favs are the Color Touch Eye, Cheek, Lip Glow. The colors are beautiful and rich, and even though they are creamy formulas, they last so well. Can't say enough good things about them except that I wish there were color samples on the website.
Thanks for the review. That sounds like a real treat.

    Hi Kate,

So this product is somewhat like a scrub, or can be used to replace a body scrub (like the Malie scrub) during showers, right?

I'm going to try this! I love Dimitri's Skinn line, and my body (arms/legs, especially) have finally decided to chide me for all my sun worshipping years. I really need a deep hydrating process if I'm going to fight the snake skin that's beginning to expose itself. I know Skinn uses good things. Thank you so much for this review! ~jk
