One of the best facial oils yet

RMS Beauty, better known for its natural makeup created by founder and makeup artist to the stars, Rose Marie Swift, has launched an organic facial oil that is quite simply lovely. Its well chosen ingredients are all there to do good things for the skin and the burst of bright gold oil and sumptuous vanilla scent put me in a good mood even on the dreariest of days.

What’s more, RMS Beauty Oil ($74) is actually a much better (although not quite as elegant) product than the Gwyneth Paltrow endorsed Rodin Olio Lusso. RMS’s ingredients make Rodin look mediocre. It makes my skin look wonderfully dewy (something that Rodin never really pulled off) and it is almost half the price at $74.

This facial oil is not only a joy to use, it has some excellent anti-aging ingredients as well. Well worth a shout-out is buriti oil. A Brazilian research team claims it has the richest natural source of beta-carotene known to man. One study speculates that it has such low cytotoxicity that it may render topical creams completely non-irritating.

Tamanu oil has all sorts of components that are beneficial for the skin, promoting the formation of new tissue, as well as providing antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, astringents and even a small amount of vitamin F.

A couple of unusual additions include hemidesmus indicus, which studies have shown to be an antioxidant. And it may prove useful to know, say, on a camping trip, that it inhibits viper venom (source). Ashwaghanda grows in India and is a member of the nightshade family. It has a component called withanoglide, an anti-inflammatory.

Some better known ingredients include soothing and softening horsetail, calming and anti-inflammatory St John’s Wort, antioxidant rosehip and turmeric, which – along with licorice – is also a skin brightener.

RMS Beauty Oil is what a facial oil should be and it will certainly qualify for the next update of Five Best facial oils.

This all sounds wonderful but I want to ensure that anything I purchase has not been tested on animals. Can you please add that information to your reviews?
