Royal Nectar Original Face Mask with Bee Venom ($68 in the shop) from the New Zealand-based Nelson Honey, is an anti-aging skin beautifier with a radiance rewind factor. Pairing manuka honey and bee venom, this "royal couple" stimulates skin tissue to produce new collagen and elastin and firms the skin. Used daily, this topical creamy indulgence is a game changer for the complexion. Members of the royal family and celebrities alike are reportedly enamored with bee venom masks (see Marta's video comparing them) and treatments.
After the first application, my skin had a dewy glow, was softer to the touch and did appear lifted. I have been using the mask two to three times a week, but the directions for use call for making this a daily 20-minute treatment as part of your regular skincare routine. I intend to increase the frequency of use and meet the daily quota as I grimacingly catapault into the next 50+ birthday year ... uh-um .... soon. I am looking forward to a cumulative and energizing firming effect that I can continue to both see and feel. When the cheeks and jawline appear lifted, it surely helps compensate for that devil we despise called "gravity."
The bee venom is said to act as an anesthetic on the muscles of the face and is touted as being a natural substance that relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles. (Editor's note: this is not actually the case - bee venom is composed of 19 compounds including melittin and apamin, which are antioxidant and anti-inflammatory).
I like the fact that the Royal Nectar Original Face Mask with Bee Venom is moisturizing, can be used sparingly and has a light and pleasant scent. There is a bit of a tingling sensation, but it plays well with sensitive skin like mine... so far, so very good. I have had a few intermittent breakouts before and during the mask test period, but I attribute it to introducing my skin to the multiple new synthetic-based products that probably are not compatible with the organic products I use. I am hopeful that the waxes and cocoa butter in the Royal Nectar Original Face Mask are not pore-clogging problematic ingredients for me. It may behoove anyone with blemish prone and/or sensitive skin to use this product individually with your current skincare regime and not simultaneously mix it up with any other new add-on products (including others from the Royal Nectar line) so that you can objectively gauge reactions and positive, negative or neutral results.
The Royal Nectar Original Mask should be suitable for all ages at all skin aging levels and is an easy, cost-effective and painless way to nourish and help maintain good, healthy and younger looking skin.
