A few weeks ago, I overheard a post-fashion week interview with celebrity makeup artist Bobbi Brown explaining how one of the spring beauty trends is “perfect skin.” Call me crazy, but when would perfect skin ever be “out”?

For me, perfect skin is smooth, natural-looking, even-toned skin. Getting this look with a foundation can be tricky. Finding a lightweight foundation, with enough coverage to hide slight imperfections, with a formula that doesn’t contain any nasties is no easy feat. For this reason, I was quite excited to try out the Sheer Miracle Mineral Foundation ($18.50), especially as its skincare line features very interesting and effective formulas at an affordable price range.

Sheer Miracle Mineral Foundation, despite being in powder form, provides even coverage and a slight glow. Upon application, you may notice a difference in shade from your skin tone, but give it a few minutes to set and you’re left with a smooth canvas. For spot coverage, try a concealer underneath the foundation, as the coverage is very lightweight.

Applying the foundation took a little practice as I was sometimes overdoing it – other times, not applying enough. However, for anyone looking for a natural, dewy light-coverage foundation, without resorting to a cream or tinted moisturizer, this might be a nice option for you.

I learned it is necessary to turn the jar of foundation upside down and tap firmly once or twice. Don’t bang on the container; otherwise, you’ll release way too much powder for a single use. Apply evenly over skin with a fluffy brush (I still use IT Cosmetics brushes whenever possible – pure luxury in brush form) and give it a few moments before you apply the rest of your makeup.

This foundation served its purpose; however the more I used it, the less I was wowed by it. This might be a result of my preference for creamier formulas. However, I’d definitely recommend it for those interested in a very lightweight foundation to even out and brighten your skin without breaking the bank (or resorting to drugstore brands full of yuckies.)
