In mid-May, I received a bottle of Skin Perfection Eye Bright ($18.95) and Nutra-Lift Wrinkle Repair Ultra ($41) to take for a test drive and I arrived at the finish line with mixed results.

Skin Perfection is a brand that I’ve wanted to love since first reading about it on TIA.  It’s a reasonably-priced, anti-aging, organic product line that doesn’t contain harsh chemicals or parabens. The truth is, however, I hadn’t yet found a reason to love it.  I bought a number of their products including the Glycolic Cleanser, Clear Skin Hydrator and Moisturizing Mask and my skin did not react well to any of them.  I hoped the Eye Bright would be different.

I used Eye Bright exclusively for two weeks, morning and night.  I couldn’t use it longer than that because the product started to separate after the first week (as is true with most other Skin Perfection products I’ve purchased) and by the end of the second week it came out of the pump bottle an oily, unusable mess. So after a two-week trial, all I can say is it moisturizes the eye area and my skin didn’t react negatively to it. If Skin Perfection could find a way formulate it so that it doesn’t separate, I would give it a second chance because of the top-notch ingredients and reasonable price.

I’m just about at the end of my bottle of Nutra-Lift Wrinkle Repair Ultra.  The website recommends using it on the face because the triple peptide complex, including SNAP 8, Argireline and Matrixyl 3000, “inhibit[s] the contraction of neurotransmitters that cause repeated movements of the facial expression muscles promoting the appearance of smooth skin especially in the forehead, mouth and around the eyes. In other words it relaxes the muscles that create the look of wrinkles.”

I found that it didn’t play well with the other products I was using on my face, including Osmosis Replenish ($43) and Dr. Hauschka Translucent Make-up (it would ball up something awful), and the lines in my forehead are still faint, so I used it on my beginning turkey-neck morning and night in the hopes that the Matrixyl 3000 would have a collagen-boosting effect.  The only other product I used on my neck, somewhat sporadically, was shea butter over the Wrinkle Repair Ultra.  For a long while it seemed to be doing nothing, but I persevered and I’m glad I did.  A few days ago I noticed that the skin on my neck feels firmer and more elastic.  It springs back more quickly when I do a pinch test, my preferred diagnostic method.  Even though I don’t have the neck of a 20-year-old, I’m thrilled.

The only thing that gives me pause is the inclusion of Argireline.  I don’t like the idea of inhibiting my muscles from doing what they’re naturally supposed to do and Julie Kay found that extended use of Argireline actually caused a worsening of wrinkles after stopping its use.  So while I may not replace my bottle of Wrinkle Repair Ultra, I will probably try other Nutra-Lift products such as One-Step or Rejuvenating A in my quest to eradicate my turkey neck.

I have tried numerous Nutra-Lift products, all very good. I especially love the Wrinkle Repair since it was extra loaded with moisture, and resolved my dry patches in our arid climate, in a short period of time. I found a little goes a long way, don't use to much because of its super richness, some will still on the face and not be absorbed, staying a little sticky. Results took a few weeks, now my face, neck and hands look so much better. Thank you Nutra-Lift for making great reasonably priced and effective products .

    Hello Team Skin Perfection,
Thank you very much for your generous offer. I do appreciate that your products don't contain nasty ingredients and I'll make sure to keep the new bottle of Eye Bright in the fridge. I look forward to giving it another go. Angela

    Hi Angela,
We are commited to provided excellent skin care at an affordable price. Products that are natural do have a tendancy to seperate, we suggest that you shake the bottle well and place in the fridge overnight. We are working hard to provide products that do not seperate, nor are filled with chemicals and toxic ingredients. Our company always replaces any product that you may have a problem with. We will be sending you a new Eye Bright this week. Thank you for taking the time to review our product. Skin Perfection

Ack! Earlobes - holy cow, my earlobes aren't as firm as they once were and my earrings don't stay put properly. Yes, I must remember to smear a little bit of whatever I'm using on my earlobes and decolletage. I'll have to put sticky notes all over my mirror to remind myself about these areas until it becomes second nature. Thanks!

Hi Angela - I agree about wanting to be able to stir up the airless bottles. A tiny bendy spoon that goes into the small opening and also allows you to get the sometimes substantial cream stuck in the neck of the bottle!

Yes, neck, decolletage, and earlobe area are the forgotten areas once we get all that stuff on the face.

Hi Vicky, I'm glad you had success with the Eye Bright. One of the problems with those nifty, airless pump bottles is not being able to stir up the product in case of separation. Ah well, thanks to TIA there are plenty of reasonably-priced, hard-working eye creams for me to try. And thanks for the reminder about the decolletage - I need to be more mindful of taking care of that area while I'm taking care of my neck.

    Hi Angela,
I had to smile when you said you used the Wrinkle Repair Ultra on your neck when it didn't work for the face. I often do that too (also try it on decolletage). In fact I did that with Skin-Perfections Phytocelltec Smart Serum and found it worked great for both neck and Decolletage but did little for my face.

I had better luck with the Skin-Perfection Eye-bright. I use ybf Correct as my main eye cream but alternate a couple days with eye-bright and sometimes use together if I need more hydration. As for separation, it's happened a little for me with Skin-Perfection products but I usually keep my serums in the fridge especially if I know I will have them for more than a month. I keep the vials inside a moisture proof container so that they aren't too cold but they are refreshing.
It might be a lot to ask a <$20 formulation to live up to the standards of the expensive creams. For hydration, lightening the eye bright did a good job for me.

Hi Julie, You're absolutely right about not stopping. I have the tendency to become complacent about upkeep after I start seeing results and then I find myself at square one within a short period of time. Which means I need to get a replacement for the Wrinkle Repair Ultra *soon* because I have only a few more applications left.

We've got to use something on our necks- so maybe you've found your something! Not stopping is a tactic, as well. =) ~jk
