Skin Perfection Peptide Cocktail vs. Beautisol Pure Peptide Rescue

June 1, 2012 Reviewed by admin 7 Comments

A while back, Marta had sent me a bottle of Skin Perfection’s Peptide Cocktail Anti Aging Serum ($96.99) with a note asking if I thought it was any better than Beautisol’s 99% Pure Peptide Rescue Advanced Serum ($120). The two skincare lines seem to have been separated at birth, and Marta has been calling them out ever since the discovery of Beautisol’s Eye Want Eye Gel and its lesser priced Skin Perfection twin. I had mentioned that I liked to use Beautisol’s Pure Peptide serum in my p.m. skincare routine. Peptides help to regenerate collagen, and I think it’s best to do this at night when the body is in regeneration mode. Copley had noted the virtues of the eight cutting-edge peptides in the Beautisol serum, which had influenced my decision to incorporate the serum into my regimen. The Skin Perfection Peptide Cocktail serum has a nearly identical formula that sells for about $25 less.

A side-by-side comparison of the serums’ ingredients reveal that the only differences are that the Beautisol formulation contains cymbopogon schoenanthus (lemongrass or camel grass oil), which serves as a fragrance, and PEG/PPG-20/15 dimethicone, giving the serum fluidity. However, I didn’t need to do an ingredient comparison to determine that the Skin Perfection serum lacked those ingredients – it was overwhelmingly obvious. One whiff of Skin Perfection’s malodorous potion was enough to justify the additional $25 in cost of Beautisol’s Pure Peptide Rescue serum – at least for me! But perhaps my olfactory senses are keener than most because I test so many products. The Smell Report study conducted by the University of Pennsylvania suggests that smell sensitivity can be a problem for researchers as subjects in repetitive experiments become increasingly skilled at detecting the odors involved. Skin Perfection’s Cocktail has all the right peptides, but it’s a shame it just doesn’t pass the smell test. Who knew lemongrass oil commanded such an exorbitant margin!

Stacy, I discovered Skin Perfection here on the TIA website. I particularly like the Youth Serum. It is a Hyaluronic Acid base loaded with actives Relistase, Matrixyl 3000, Regu Age, Syn Coll, Teprenone (Renovage), Homeostatine, Spin Trap, Geo Gard, Leuconstoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate. Radish root is a safe preservative. I ask Skin Perfection about Geo Gard and was told it is a paraben free preservative consisting of Gluconolactone and Sodium Benzoate. Sodium Benzoate is a bit controversial but still considered safe. Also look at the Clarifying Moisturizer loaded with a ton of good things, The only thing I'm not thrilled with is Pepha Tight. But with both of these products, the good definitely outweighs the bit of bad.

I will try the Skin perfection, I like that it doesn't contain the peg-dimethicone. I am trying to replace all cosmetics with the most natural, but still have ingredients that work!

We appreciate TIA taking the time to review our products. At Skin Perfection, we bring the latest and most advanced anti aging products and make them affordable for everyone! We understand that not everyone can spend over $100 for on one serum! We also understand that many people are sensitive to fragrance, chemical fillers and parabens. We try to avoid them as much as possible. That is the reason why our Peptide Cocktail is unscented. We feel our Peptide Cocktail is an affordable alternative to higher priced serums. We love this serum and think you will too! We are offering TIA readers $10 off the Peptide Cocktail until the end of August with coupon code TIAPC. PLUS, we will also send you a FREE bottle of Lemongrass Essential Oil. Just add a couple of drops to the Peptide Cocktail and it will smell Lemony fresh! The best part of adding your own essential oils, is that you can control the scents strength.
Come and try our Peptide Cocktail Serum with 8 Anti Aging Peptides for under $90!
