While I was trying out Skinfinite’s “the balm” ($45 in the TIA store) a few months ago, I also took a look at their product line to see what else they had to offer. Instead of dozens of products just for this or that particular problem, I was surprised to find a pared down skincare line with anti-aging products directed at both prevention and repair. What I found interested me because the products focused on proven ingredients, especially peptides, which I have become familiar with through the TIA website.
As I ended my trial with “the balm” with pleasing results, I emailed the company to request samples, and was generously provided their Platinum 8 Peptide Serum ($195/1 oz) and Platinum PM Cream 1% Retinol ($79/1 oz) to try.
Although I’ve used serums with peptides, I haven’t tried (or seen) one with so many. The Platinum 8 peptide serum differentiates itself by using peptides at high levels. It also combines peptides that complement each other, such as Argireline (to reduce existing wrinkles and inhibit new ones) combined with Leuphasyl (an amino acid containing five peptides to reduce the depth of wrinkles, especially on forehead and around the eyes). I also did a quick check on the computer of each of the items listed below for their benefits and found basically the same information on various websites. The key ingredients in Platinum 8 Peptide Serum are:
Peptamide™ 6 – for firming (also protective & brightening properties)
20% Matrixyl™ 3000 – reduces the appearance of wrinkles
15% SYN®‐COLL – stimulates the skin’s natural mechanism to produce collagen (reduces wrinkles)
10% Argireline® – reduces existing wrinkles and help prevent new ones
10% Leuphasyl® – helps to reduce expression line wrinkles when combined with Argireline®
10% SNAP‐8 – aids in wrinkle reduction
5% Melanostatine®5 – Inhibits melanin synthesis
5 % Aldenine ® – acts as a cellular detoxifier
Sodium hyaluronate is also included to help absorb water and prevent trans-dermal water loss.
It has now been almost eight weeks and here is what I discovered:
A little bit went a long way, as only a few drops were all I needed (for testing purposes, I only used it on half of my face). Contained in an airless pump, the colorless and fragrance-free serum is of a thin consistency that absorbed quickly. Easy to use, I applied it morning and night on cleansed skin and it didn’t break out my oily skin. Although I did see hydration and moisturization benefits right away, as with most things, patience is key and it did pay off as I began to see the more tangible results after about a month. A couple of bothersome lines I was using as “landmarks” had become less pronounced, and there was improved skin firmness.
After almost two months using this product, I can say that I have seen an overall improvement in my skin (and though the lines are not completely gone, they are reduced – and a lone, light, small freckle lightened to the point of not being noticeable.). Although it is probably best used all over the face for optimal results, to make the product go even further, I could also see it used on targeted areas if you only have certain areas of concern.
