A natural cellulite treatment that works

Botanical extracts that tartget adipocytes

One potentially irritating preservative

Although I have a regular workout routine and have good muscle tone for my age, I have some stubborn cellulite where my butt meets my thighs. So I was curious as to whether Skinveda Ayurvedic Body Sculpting Crème ($68 in the shop) would help.

After four weeks, this targeted body lotion – designed for stretch marks and cellulite – has smoothed out my dimples. Not completely, of course, but there is a difference – enough to encourage me to continue to use Skinveda Ayurvedic Body Sculpting Crème.

According to Skinveda, this lotion works by selectively shedding adipocytes (the cells that store fat), increasing ATP (the main energy source in cells) and reducing inflammation.

Three botanicals - glaucium flavum (yellow poppy), euglena gracilis (a kind of algae) and caffeine - are used in a complex made by Sederma called Phytosonic. It works by unbinding adipocytes from the extracellular matrix through the stimulation of specific proteases. It also restores mitochondrial energy.

Skinveda has added a fatty acid from red sandalwood, saying it has been proven through in vitro tests to selectively shed hypertrophied adipocytes from their substrate without destroying them, and help reduce subchronic inflammation. Artichoke extract is a diuretic, while guggul resin from the sap of guggul tree promotes detoxification and rejuvenation.

The only thing not to like is the preservative sodium benzoate. But all in all this is a thoughtfully formulated botanical product that gives results. This body lotion has an earthy color and matching scent that I find natural and pleasant. It is easily massged into the skin and by targeting the lotion on areas needed, the 3.4oz bottle lasts several months.

    Dear Marta,

Thank you for your candid review. We are so happy to learn about your experience with our signature Ayurvedic Body Sculpting creme. The ingredients are carefully selected in synergy to create a powerful boost of detoxification, and flushing out the hyper-tropied adipocytes. I understand that the sodium benzoate is not well-accepted by a lot of consumers. However, in order to preserve the water loving extracts present in the body cream and not have any bacterial and fungal contamination, we chose this preservative due to it's efficacy and with minimal side effects as opposed to phenoxyethanol, or parabens. But we have taken note for future formulations.
