At 38 years young, I am suffering from dry skin that has also become mildly sensitive, along with some redness around my cheeks, nose and chin area.  I am already noticing fine lines under my eyes and I even have the dreaded "11" lines that are pretty deep, which I imagine are self-inflicted because I have a bad habit of holding all of my tension in my forehead.  Also, I noticed that my skin has lost a lot of it's elasticity.

I blame most of my aging skin woe's on the harsh, yet desirable rays of the sun.  Sunbathing was one my most cherished hobbies when I was in my teens and even in my twenties.  I remember rubbing sun tanning oil and even baby oil, mineral oil, etc. on my skin in the hopes of turning 10 shades darker. Little did I know then, I was setting myself up for some premature aging. It wasn't until I turned 30 that I started to see my skin changing for the worse, it was then that I discovered how detrimental the sun can be towards our skin. That beautiful tan is nothing more than inflammation. Inflammation is a huge factor on aging skin, so treating inflammation with anti-inflammatory ingredients is a good bet to slowing down the aging process.

I was super excited when I found out that I was chosen to test and review the Replenishing Serum by Skinveda ($80 in the shop). It is specifically designed to help eliminate redness, help with the skin's healing process and to even reduce inflammation in the skin caused by sunburns, facial treatments and even rosacea. I was also fascinated to learn that this serum can also help to reduce swelling.

The main key ingredient is gluten free oat peptides, which according to the Skinveda website, "act as a film-former to impart protection and moisturization.  It also has been shown to improve skin's elasticity.  Avenanthramides in oats have been shown to be the main group of active polyphenol antioxidants responsible for their anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic (anti-itch), and anti-histamine properties."  The Replenishing Serum also contains green tea extract and chamomile aromatic distillates, which are also excellent anti-inflammatory ingredients.  I also love that Skinveda included a triple mineral complex of magnesium aspartate, zinc gluconate and copper gluconate, which "stimulates the cellular respiration process."  Horse chestnut is also included as "it works towards increasing micro-circulation."

I have tested Skinveda's Replenishing Serum for 4 weeks now at twice a day and am very impressed. This serum is gluten free, PETA certified, cruelty free and vegan. It comes in a stunning amber glass bottle with an easy to use dropper and it takes just 4 to 5 drops of this thin gel-like serum to cover my face and neck.  The serum itself is a light brown/tan color and I like that it easily absorbed into my skin. It did feel slightly tacky for a minute or two, but that quickly disappears. During my 4 week trial, I only used a basic moisturizer and sunscreen so I would be able to truly evaluate any benefits towards my skin.  Within 2 weeks of using the Replenishing Serum I noticed the redness in face has greatly diminished.  At this time, I feel my skin felt more hydrated also.  At the end of my 4 weeks I am pleasantly surprised to find all of my redness is basically all gone.  My chin area is slightly pink still, but I have high hopes that that too will disappear. My skin seems to have a nice even glow to it and is definitely more moisturized at this point, as my skin is plump and my fine lines under my eyes have greatly reduced.

Overall, $80 for a 1.7 oz bottle of the Skinveda Replenishing Serum, sounds like a pretty good price to me as most serums usually only contain an 1.0 oz. of product.  For all of the positive benefits that I have seen happen in my skin after just a month, I can't wait to see just how much more will come with continued use. I most likely will continue to purchase this serum and have it remain a staple in my skin care routine. After using this serum for 4 weeks, I still have 3/4th of a bottle remaining, so I have no doubt that one bottle will last several months.  Knowing that inflammation can significantly speed up the aging process, I feel that the Skinveda Replenishing Serum, which is full of wonderful anti-inflammatory and skin healing ingredients, is key to help delaying the aging process.
