Snowberry Bright Defence Day Cream No. 3- reviewed and recommended

Smoothed and evened out skin tone

Off-putting scent and lack of SPF

Overall a dependable moisturizer to improve complexion for dry skin

I know it sounds childish, but ever since I started at working here at TIA, I’ve wanted to try Snowberry products because of the adorable packaging. Finally, I had my chance to try the Bright Defence Day Cream No. 3 ($66) for dry skin, and I am happy to say I like the product almost as much as its container.

This product is the third installment of Snowberry’s Bright Defence Day Cream line and is formulated especially for dry skin. It claims to nourish, hydrate, and brighten the skin. I would agree with Snowberry’s claims.

It is hydrating, but not too heavy to wear under makeup, which is very important to me in a day cream. My face also tends to flake or itch throughout the day – due to how dry it is – and neither happened while testing this product. I have also not broken out, which I can credit to the abundance of natural, soothing, and healing ingredients. When looking at the ingredients list, it was clear that this cream is meant to relieve and protect the skin.

My face seems smoother, slightly more even, and more radiant – perhaps a result of the skin-brightening agents in the product. I was skeptical as to whether this day cream would actually lighten my skin, so I didn’t have any expectations for my sunspots or freckles to magically disappear. Because of this I was pleased with the subtle overall tone of my skin improving over the month’s use.

I have two small issues with this product. First, the smell; it is not unpleasant, but it is a little odd. It reminds me a bit of plastic and a bit of bubble gum (and the beige color of the cream is reminiscent of putty). The second issue is this cream contains no SPF. Ideally, I would prefer my day cream to have SPF built in, so I don’t have to provide another layer of liquid to my face, but I was willing to compromise. It does contain ingredients that “support protection against UV irradiation” and “help to prevent UV-induced degredation of collagen,” but nowhere on the Snowberry website does it say it contains SPF.

Overall, I really like this day cream and I plan to repurchase it when I’m finished – and not just because it looks cute in my medicine cabinet.
