I loved my introduction to Snowberry Bright Defence Night Cream ($67). I was very intrigued by Snowberry and the brand’s skincare philosophy after reading Valerie’s interview with founder Soraya Hendesi. When I saw the box the product arrived in, I was very taken with the charming, fanciful design. Open the box and you will see a beautifully designed pump container. The design and packaging has a very cheery and inviting effect. If you go to the Snowberry website, you will see an animated intro that will make you smile.
Like other fine skincare companies, Snowberry’s mantra is to do no harm. Products from the New-Zealand-based company contain no chemicals or no irritants. The brand takes pride in the fact that hundreds of the ingredients found in its product line are locally derived. Snowberry’s promise is that Bright Defence Night Cream will hydrate and brighten your skin as you sleep. With anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antioxidant properties, key ingredients gently reduce the causes of skin discoloration in all skin types and for all ages with no risk of irritation. Quite a promise.
A small sampling of the ingredients are grape seed oil, harakeke seed oil, rosehip oil, and skin lightener ChromaBright. It has intriguing and exotic sounding ingredients, such as anti-irritant Dragocalm (a blend of water, glycerin and oat kernel extract) and Orchid Complex OS, an emollient with anti-aging properties. From growing to blending to packaging and manufacturing, all from Snowberry is completely state of the art.
Every night for one month, I have pumped out a quarter-size of the white cream and applied it to my face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Not surprisingly, it is a very nice cream with a pleasant scent. Its consistency is not oily, and not too thin or too thick. It quickly absorbs into the skin. Yet in spite of all the wonderful things I have discovered in reading about and using Snowberry’s Bright Defence Night Cream, we are not going steady, just dating. There is no question that my skin tone is brighter and more even. My face does not feel dry or tight in the morning, but I wish it felt more hydrated. I really want to love this product, but quite honestly other creams have given my skin the softer feel I’m looking for. Having always dealt with rather dry skin, this cream may be perfection for someone else. However, Snowberry specifically does recommend it for dry, mature skin. At 60 years, I qualify on both counts. I am quite pleased with the improved skin tone results and will continue to use it. With a little more time who knows, perhaps we will go steady. After all, who doesn’t want Orchid Complex caressing her skin?
