I had the opportunity to try the Sweetsation Ellasti*Belly Organic Stretch Mark Miracle Oil ($32). I’m in my early 40s and, while I’ve never had children, I've had horrible stretch marks on my hips and thighs from a growth spurt in my early teens. Needless to say, I’ve been searching for many years for something to help with the unsightly stretch marks. I haven’t had children, so I can’t speak to how this product would work on pregnancy-related stretch marks on the stomach. I have no doubt it would offer significant benefits if used during pregnancy to help keep the skin supple and possibly prevent stretch marks in the first place. The organic formula also makes it a safe alternative for expectant mothers.
What I can tell you from my experience is that this product is an effective treatment for existing stretch marks. “Miracle oil” might be a little over-the-top, as I would reserve “miracle” status for a product that completely erased all signs of stretch marks. However, I have seen significant, measurable improvement in my existing stretch marks and I have tried everything from tanning, to StriVectin and even the derma roller with limited success.
After using this product religiously during my four-week trial, my stretch marks have become much less visible, and the surrounding skin has improved in tone and texture. If I were to put a percentage on it, I would say I have experienced 25-30% improvement in the look and feel of existing stretch marks. The ingredient list is impressive, with over 30 elasticity boosting essential oils and extracts. The formulation includes caviar extracts (or roe extract) which the product literature describes as a source of vitamins, nucleic acids, phospholipids and proteins. They are in themselves a source of marine DNA, a key element to skin cell regeneration.
The miracle oil is pleasant to use and smells delicious! In trying similar products in the past, I can say that the hardest part to achieving the desired results is using the product consistently as directed. This product has a leg-up on the competition by creating a formula that you will actually look forward to using. The scent and texture are luxurious, which lends to a feeling that you are doing something good for your skin.
The only negative I can report in testing Ellasti*Belly is that the product packaging. The product is best described as delicate oil, which has a consistency that is on the thin side. The container is a squeeze tube similar to what you would find for a face cream or lotion, so the oil collects along the lid and runs down the side. I had my product sitting on the side of my bathtub while trying it out, and it left a messy residue that might be annoying to some users.
