I received The Organic Pharmacy Ultra Dry Skin Cream ($79) at the beginning of the fall and have been anxiously awaiting the cold winter weather before putting this cream to test. This is when my dry, sensitive skin starts to misbehave most. Unfortunately, the weather has NOT been cooperating with my trial of the cream, but I decided to go ahead and try it while I waited for Old Man Winter to appear.

The packaging is a bit deceiving because it resembles product packages filled with nasty chemicals, far from the truth. I am always on the lookout for products without fragrances, chemicals, preservatives, colors and petrochemicals and this cream fit the bill! The first ingredients are healing aloe and neem [Ed. Note: for more on neem, take a look at this back-in-the-day review].

I also liked that the The Organic Pharmacy Ultra Dry Skin Cream comes in a tube, as opposed to a tub (which eliminates the problem of contamination). The cream is of medium thickness in consistency and soothing to my skin. It has caused no irritation thus far, but I have not tried it on chapped or broken skin.

It sunk into my skin well and it seemed to give my skin a protective layer, yet didn't leave me feeling like an oil slick like some dry skin moisturizers do. The strange thing is that it left my hands greasy-looking, even though they really were not that greasy. Not sure why they appeared so. When I applied the cream for the first time, I did find that the product had separated a bit, but shaking the closed tube several times remedied this. The smell of the cream is herbal but not too overpowering (it is similar to Weleda's Skin Food), but I admit that it is not very appealing to me. That being said, I still recommend (and will use!) the cream. I just won't use it on my hands unless it's bedtime.

Ingredients in The Organic Pharmacy Ultra Dry Skin Cream: Aloe (Aloe Barbadensis), Neem (Azadirachta Indica), Rose Hip (Rosa Canina) Oil, Sea Salt (Maris Sal), Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), Sunflower (Helianthus Annus) Oil, Tamanu (Calophyllum Inophyllum) , Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Palmitate) , Vitamin E (Tocopherol) , Aqua (Water) , Sorbitan Stearate , Coconut Oil (Cocos Nucifera) , Magnesium Sulfate, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis), Chickweed (Stellaria Media), Evening Primrose (Oenothera Biennis) Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract (Citrus Grandis), Honey (Mel), Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Oil, Marigold (Calendula Officinalis) Extract, Sesame Seed Oil (Sesamum Indicum)

    Hi,
Do you normally have dry or combination skin? Is that why you were waiting for drier weather?
I am looking for something more moisturizing because my skin is very dry and it tends to be most of the year.
Seems like most of the reviewers have oily skin.
