Theraneem Organix Men’s Lotion- tested and recommended

Face Care for Men

I was thoroughly impressed with Theraneem’s Botanical Fading Cream (used every day for almost two years now!) that my excitement couldn’t have been any stronger when Theraneem recently released the Men’s Lotion, which supports healthy-looking skin.

When it comes to neem, Theraneem is perhaps the jackpot for the extract (in fact, it’s not the most common ingredient to be found in beauty brands). The new Men’s Lotion ($12.95) is almost all organic (save the last ingredient, sodium acrylates copolymer, which is simply a thickening agent, and phenoxyethanol, a preservative). The main ingredient, neem, is one of my favorite underrated botanicals. Derived from the evergreen tree grown in exotic countries (as well as Florida, the only state it grows in the US and, well, depending on some people, could be considered exotic), neem has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. It has strong antioxidant properties, is a potent anti-inflammatory and helps support the immune system. Used in various forms (in the Men’s Lotion, it’s the leaf), neem combats free radicals with its high level of antioxidants, helping to protect from environmental toxins and prevent skin damage, whether over exposure to sun or aging. With that said, it’s a great fixer for fine lines, scarring, sun spots, age spots and other symptoms that are weighed in with skin damage.

If we break neem down further, it has long chain fatty acids and glycerides that penetrate into the skin quickly, so moisture retention is not questioned. The Men’s Lotion is not only nourishing and calming but it’s super moisturizing. Heaps of aloe barbadensis gel, vitamin E and sunflower oil help to the fullest. Thanks to the oakmoss, fir needle and cedarwood, it has a definite masculine scent. When applied, it was so woodsy that it brought to mind a fireplace in the woods. It might be too masculine for women but the ingredients are worth the use (and, quite frankly, some women love masculine scents!). Men’s Lotion is suggested for the face and body but I would use it for the face after shaving, as it does sooth and naturally tightens the skin tissue to prevent wrinkles. Also, with all its antioxidants, you’d want to save it for what matters most (your pretty mug!). But it’s quite fantastic for the body too.
