I received the Tilth Beauty Gentle Poppy Seed Exfoliator ($38) about four weeks ago to review. Let me begin by saying that I do regularly exfoliate. I also have a personal microdermabrasion device and get professional peels done somewhat regularly. I was a little surprised by the texture of the Tilth exfoliator. I guess I thought it would be more like some of the very grainy, rough products I have used in the past (duh! It does say “gentle” on the bottle). The product comes in a small “shaker” bottle (like salt or pepper) with an opening that makes it easy to adjust how much of it you want to use. The product is light and finely ground, and did not dissolve. It had a very nice, soft cleansing effect. And it rinses away clean. There is little to no fragrance.

I chose to use some of the product along with a gel cleanser three to four times a week. While it felt nice and my face felt soft and clean, rather than dried out or scraped, I am not really sure I saw any major difference in my skin afterward.

The gentle exfoliator may work well if you have sensitive skin or as you work your way up to more “heavy-duty” exfoliators. As for me, I will continue to use this as part of my cleansing routine, but I probably would not purchase it.
