I must admit that when I was asked to review Topix Replenix CF Serum Green Tea + Hyaluronic Acid
($49) I was excited to see how well it performed. I’m a big fan of the Replenix line of skincare products and had never tried the Replenix Serum. It’s important to note that this line is actually marketed to cosmetic dermatologists and cannot be found at your local drugstore, department store or specialty cosmetics store. Though it doesn’t require a prescription, you should probably inquire about it to your dermotologist – or you can even search for it online. FYI: it’s best to comparison shop as you can save yourself some money because prices vary widely.
The Replenix Serum is manufactured by Topix Pharmaceuticals and contains green tea, 90% polyphenol isolate and caffeine, along with hyaluronic acid. It’s a brown serum/gel (due to the caffeine, I assume) dispensed in a pump container. In my experience, this serum layers nicely and is absorbed almost instantly into my skin. For reference, my skin is mature, dry in the winter, more oily in the summer, and can be sensitive with rosacea (primarily on my cheeks) during the winter.
I used one pump every evening for six weeks as a pre-treatment before using either a prescription Retin A product (0.1% or 0.05% Retin A) or topical vitamin C (15% or 20% preparations), and I followed with a moisturizer. I found this product to be soothing and gentle on my skin and it did not cause any additional redness. In fact, the chemical properties of the green tea/polyphenols and caffeine really helped to calm my skin and take away the redness. This helped my skin tolerate much higher concentrations of those powerhouse anti-aging products, Retin A and topical vitamin C. Keep in mind that Replenix is not moisturizing; it is not intended to be a moisturizer and should be layered with an appropriate moisturizer.
For me, the Replenix Serum has clearly lessened the redness and seasonal rosacea on my face, especially if I’ve been too aggressive with my skin. I love the simple and clean ingredients list of this serum and that it is green-tea-based. I can really tell the difference when I use it or skip a day. At anywhere from $46-$56 for a 1 fl. ounce bottle, this product is a little pricey but definitely worth the investment. This is now one of my favorite products and will be a staple in my cosmetics cabinet. I won’t go a day (or night) without using the Replenix Serum. JUST FABULOUS!
