Smoother, less oily skin

No impact on wrinkles and discoloration

By Karen

Thank you for daring me to try Transderma Vitamin C Serum ($175 in the shop). I am a 53-year-old healthy woman who takes pride in my appearance. I have taken “better care” of my skin since my 30’s by consuming “better” food and supplements. The last major addition to my regime was collagen peptides, which I started June 2017. I consider my skin a combination of normal and oily.

My impression of Transderma Vitamin C Serum is upscale. The cobalt blue dispenser shields the product from light, which preserves its integrity. I found it difficult to only get the recommended few drops when dispensing, but that was okay because I felt like I needed more than that to cover my face and neck. It helps to tilt the bottle so the serum dispenses directly on my finger for application, instead of unnecessary excess dribbling.

I found it amazing this product is made up of only 2 ingredients, one being highly potent vitamin C, and therefore excited to see the benefits of this expensive and pure product!  Upon application to my freshly washed face, both in the morning and evening, I discovered a funky, almost metallic smell to the product, and after getting it on my lips I discovered a sweet taste, which makes sense after looking up the ingredient 1,2 propanediol, a.k.a propylene glycol. It is a humectant (hydrating) and it delivers ingredients in cosmetics. If the order of the ingredients is listed according to the amount in the product, there is more propylene glycol than L-Ascorbic Acid, a.k.a. Vitamin C. in this product. Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which I know has the power to brighten skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also has the power to lessen damage of UV rays and provides protection from these damaging rays.

The serum feels oily upon application and a bit tacky as I waited for total absorption. After waiting the prescribed 5 minutes, my face felt soft, as if no product was sitting on the surface. I usually like to wash my hands after applying any facial products, because of the residual feeling, but after waiting the appropriate amount of time I did not feel the need at the start, but I found the lingering metallic smell on my fingers to be bothersome.

What did I expect from Transderma Vitamin C Serum? Finer visual lines, fading of acne scars and discoloration of sun damage on my chest, and perhaps some positive changes in some surgical scars from precancerous lesions I had removed. What I experienced was a very noticeable difference in the lack of oiliness in the morning after waking.  What a pleasant surprise. Another surprise was how smooth my face felt after the appropriate drying/absorption time. I’m finding it difficult to see finer lines, fading of acne scars and discoloration from sun damage. Perhaps it did keep my skin from aging. My skin certainly does not look worse after using Transderma Vitamin C Serum.

I believe any woman would pay good money for a product that showed substantial improvement in the way of fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration. Personally, I do not feel this product provided such benefits. Do I love the lessening of an oily complexion and the super soft feel of my face? Absolutely! Perhaps 30 days is not quite long enough to see substantial benefits. I will continue to use the product in its entirety.
