Now that I am 58 years old, I recognize not only how important skin care is, but what ingredients work for targeted areas for of each part of my body. I am happy to report that all my former skin care concerns — sagging skin, fine lines, crow’s feet, marionette lines, and neck — are in great condition today, with no sagging or fine lines/wrinkles.
During my 20s, 30s and 40s, I knew that skin care was important but didn’t really have an understanding of which ingredient did what, so I was one of your typical, “Buy high end products, because at that price they must be good and go with the entire line of the product” consumers. What a sucker I was… I bought into it!
Fortunately, I didn’t damage my skin, but I didn’t feed and nourish it, and so I found it necessary to investigate more closely to find a regimen that gets results! There is a big difference between using a product line routinely without much thought (my former skin care regimen) and thoughtfully understanding what is going on in every area of my skin and addressing specific needs by carefully reviewing active ingredients and targeting the area with a great product with the ingredients that the area needs. For example, what I use for an eye cream, both day and night, is different. I wouldn’t imagine that this would work effectively as an all-over face moisturizer.
Skin care is extremely important to me, as much as the routine maintenance of a dental cleaning twice a year, annual physicals, etc. I find that a good skin care routine is a daily “ritual,” one that I fully embrace. I see the direct results of the products that I use and am often thought to be in my mid 40s. Do I have a touch of vanity? Yes, I’ll admit to that. But if I look good, I feel good. What I put on my skin is just as important as the food that I put into my body.
Well into my 50s, I began to encounter different areas of concern: sagging skin, fine lines, marionette lines, skin becoming drier as seasons change. Without the most current information that is found on the TIA website, I would have had to do a great deal of research on my own, to determine what is best for me. The site is invaluable with its articles, reviews by staff and members of the TIA community, plus great pricing and frequent discounts!
For cleansing, after my usual cleansing oil (to remove sun block and makeup), I am currently using Royal Nectar Cream Cleanser ($29). Looking at the active ingredients of manuka honey and bee venom, I just can’t find anything else that cleanses my face, leaving it supple and feeling like I’ve just had a masque, as I leave the product on for about 30 seconds before washing it off. I switch it up a little with the Red Flower Nature Cleanser and Masque ($42 in the shop). It is a great cleanser for my combination skin. I have looked into another product, La Vie Celeste Exfoliating Mother of Pearl Cleanser ($40 in the shop), that I may try with my next purchase for the exfoliating, anti-aging and antioxidants to boot!
After cleansing, my daily routine is to apply serum, MitoQ Moisturizing Anti-Aging Serum ($119 in the shop), allow it to sink into my skin, with its powerful antioxidant CoQ10, for fine lines, wrinkles and firm skin. Once dry, I use Snowberry Bright Defence Day Cream No. 3 ($66 in the shop). This leaves my skin brighter, my face glowing, hydrated and youthful. I then apply Your Best Face Define ($70 in the shop), let it dry and use it with Your Best Face Quench ($15 in the shop). My nighttime regimen is cleansing (using the same serum) and Eslor active night cream ($95). This may be a bit heavy for younger skin, but it works well for me. I will use this, then order Skin Nutrition Night Cream ($75), a great product; it feeds your skin, and alternate between the two.
For eye creams, I have tried Your Best Face eye serum for several years, and I loved the product but have found that my under eye skin needed a little more of a boost. So, for several months, I’ve begun using using Your Best Face Correct ($150 in the shop), which I love. For my evening eye care regimen, I ABSOLUTELY adore Amarte Eyeconic Eye Cream, which is not only a fabulous product, but for the price, you get 3.8% retinol in your night eye cream. I’ll be hard put to part with that, unless it stops working for me. It is important for me to mention there is a distinction between daytime and nighttime skin care products. It’s not just to add another product to your skin care routine, but nighttime products are designed to work on your skin overnight. I have experimented with this and will always use a day and night eye cream and moisturizer.
Amarte Ultra Veil Sunscreen ($45) is perhaps the first chemical sunscreen Marta has reviewed and recommended. If a product passes the “Marta test,” as I know she is an advocate for GREAT skin care products, then I will purchase the product and see how it works for me. This sunscreen has a broad spectrum SPF 50 to protect sun exposed skin, as well as being an anti-ager that works extremely well under makeup.
In addition to the above mentioned products, I use various masques for different reasons. They are great for hydrating, exfoliating, getting your “glow on.” I use Royal Nectar Face Mask ($68 in the shop), La Vie Celeste Restorative Exfoliating Gel Mask ($60 in the shop), and E’shee Clinical Esthetic Hydro Mask ($96), which can be used overnight.
The Truth Vitality Lux Renew ($279 in the shop) device along with the use of the Ultra Renew Gel is in a class by itself. Thank you Marta for your part in the development of the new version. This is a powerful workhorse for sagging skin, wrinkles, dark spots and building collagen. I encourage you to review this for yourself on the TIA website.
This may sound like a lot of work, but I found that now that I have the right products and know when and how to use them, it is a ritual that can take as little as 10 minutes in the morning to 30 or 40 minutes of “me time” when I use my facial device or one of the great masks that TIA has to offer. It is my experience that this is GENIUS and worth the cost, as the payoff has been very high for me. It is certainly work the effort, as I have no marionette lines, the lines around my eyes and on my forehead are really very fine and my skin is supple and glowing. The end result is that I need very little make up to enhance my natural beauty.
I absolutely love the entire line of Your Best Face (YBF), from their products for eyes, face, lips, and especially their line of exquisite facial oils. You really can’t beat this line, depending on what your current skin care needs are. I am also in love with the AQ line for facial serums and under eyes. It’s unfortunate that I’ve had to look for a product that produces better results for my specific needs, but, of course, I was able to do so and have no regrets with using YBF Control for eyes. I ADORE The AMARTE Eyeconic eye cream!!! It's a fabulous product at a great price.
Review, research and read what is on the TIA website before purchasing the product. Every product reacts to individual body chemistry, skin sensitivity and current condition of skin in a different way.
Give it time — once you have purchased your product, give it time to work. I contacted TIA a few times regarding the results that I was getting and the answer was to give a new product time to work effectively. I never have to ask them questions about the products again after that.
Finally, believe in yourself and that you are worth it. A skin care regimen regardless of what you use will cost money — why not invest in products with the latest information on anti aging, skin care maintenance at any age? Plus, a little bit of product goes a long way.
I suggest that you start somewhere, build upon your routine, and stick with a skin care regimen that works for you… you won’t be disappointed!
