Ursa Major Essential Face Toner- reader reviewed and recommended
I love this company’s objective “to provide men with a healthy and highly effective skincare solution that’s really a pleasure to use.” The company has methodically created and introduced one men’s product at a time. And I want to borrow another quote from its website because the makers state it best: “Our advanced formulations artfully blend nature’s most effective and luxurious ingredients to provide rich textures, robust aroma and unbeatable performance.”
The Ursa Major Essential Face Toner ($24/8oz) couldn’t be better described. Natural plant extracts, essential oils and waters have been very thoughtfully and creatively combined to create a toner that truly performs. After my daily morning ritual of shaving, I found this to be the best toner I’ve ever used. Like most toners it soothed the skin, but it goes way beyond that basic with natural ingredients. These include geranium oil to detoxify and balance the skin; anti-inflammatory extracts of willow bark and green tea; fir needle and rosemary leaf oils, which lend their antiseptic properties; and olive leaf extracts that soften the skin. On top of that, radish root filtrate is included as a preservative – no parabens. Soothing, healing, hydrating, balancing – and I haven’t even gotten to the olfactory factor. When I first opened the bottle it was such a fresh rush – a bright, clean and fresh herbal fragrance that most anyone will love. And although it is really refreshing, the all-natural fragrance doesn’t linger on the skin after a couple of minutes. While using this product, I experienced no breakouts, razor burn or any other skin problems.
I decanted a bit of the toner into a small flip-cap bottle and took it to work to keep in my desk as a midday de-greaser. A few drops on a cotton ball worked like a charm, cleaning my oily skin without drying it out. That got me to thinking how great this would also work to decant into a small TSA-friendly spray bottle and take along on flights to refresh the skin from the dry plane cabin air. (It’s recommended for all skin types.)
According to my use, the 8-oz bottle should last about a month and a half. Although the description “luxurious” could seldom be used in most men’s products, in my opinion they’ve created a toner that’s just that and also quite economical to use. I would consider this a smart addition to any guy’s daily routine and would love to see it in the TIA shop, too.
