When TIA offered for me the chance to try the new Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Luminous Foundation ($34), I was excited.

As I've gotten older, makeup is no longer as simple as just applying some foundation onto my face and walking out the door. Oh no, life would be too simple for that. Instead, it has become a careful scientific approach of mixing primers, concealers, bronzers, highlighters and finding a natural makeup to do the rest of the job.

I cannot think of anything more frustrating than applying makeup, walking out of the house with an even glowing complexion, only to find yourself looking in the mirror an hour later with more wrinkles than you had without make up. What a frustrating experience. We use make up to make our skin look great and instead it often enhances the very wrinkles we work so hard to minimize.

It has been my goal for the past several months to find a makeup that does the job, and does it naturally.

When I received my Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Luminous Foundation, I did what most of us natural folks do – I turned the box over and read the ingredients. With 70% organic ingredients and 30% vitamins and minerals, there was nothing to complain about here. It's 100% natural, chemical free, no animal testing, no irradiation, no nano-particles, and is made with wind power! Definitely going the extra mile…

After a careful reading of the ingredients and seeing unusual suspects like frankincense and holy basil followed by lotus flowers, I was intrigued and very excited to try it.

I opened up the packaging to discover that this foundation came in a stick. I'm normally not a fan of applying foundation with a stick even though it has become a more popular method of application in recent years. The idea is to begin warming the product on the back of your hand and then applying it, but the packaging also suggests one can apply this directly to clean dry skin or on top of Vapour Stratus Instant Skin Perfector ($44), a product Marta reviewed recently.

I used this product over a period of several weeks. The first thing I noticed was the wonderful scent it had. It reminded me of a relaxing cup of herbal tea. The mild scent lasted throughout the day and was actually a really a nice feature of this foundation, as a lot of natural foundations have a less than pleasant smell to them.

The foundation was easy to apply with the stick and takes minimal blending.  It can be layered easily from light to medium coverage. It provided a very soft and dewy glow that really enhanced my skin. I was quite pleased with the result.

The packaging refers to light reflective technology that gives an instant anti-aging effect that brightens, evens skin texture, and provides a natural glow. I can honestly say that this foundation did all of that. More importantly, it did not cause any reactions with my sensitive skin. The color went on strong and within a half hour it magically blended nicely with my natural skin tone. Overall, I was impressed with this product and will likely use it again.

The only complaint is that the foundation didn't last the entire day – but the handy stick fits right into my purse for a no-mess, easy touch up.

I had a similar experience as Rosanna, I sent off for the samples not knowing which color to purchase...that saved me a ton of money. I had such high hopes for this foundation I have never gotten in a fink over makeup but I did over Vapour. It lays on the face never setting/drying so you feel like you have to set it with powder adding another layer, it smells a lot like crayons as well. I have great skin I'm in my 30s my 3 teen girls also used it & had the same results including break outs...& btw the concealer last about 2 hours b4 it slides away. For me I'm back to the drawing board, going to try NVEY & maybe Juice whatever its called. I heard hourglass is not horrible on the toxic side ...we shall see.

But 2 thumbs down plus a frown & tears for Vapour.

I'm going to try to post this in multiple places b/c want to share my experience with the Vapour foundation products. I ordered them after reading somewhere in the TIA comments that someone had a great experience with them. I have to say that my experience has not been nearly as positive. I find that the foundations simply sit on the surface of your face. It feels as though you have a greasy film covering your face the entire day (almost like Crisco, but without the super sleek shine) -- without really evening out my skin tone as one would hope from a foundation. I also found that the foundations clogged my pores. I haven't broken out significantly in years, but my forehead, cheek, and chin area developed small oil plugs that clogged my pores. My skin seemed to recover quite positively once I stopped using the Vapour products. It's a shame b/c the company seems wonderful and others have had a positive experience, but I did want to share this with others, as I really couldn't be more disappointed with these products.
