Video: A natural-looking spring makeover

Reviewed by Kristen April 16, 2013 13 Comments

I love Spring. Something about the first tiny flowers in bloom and the return of fresh grass seems to make us crave change and renewal. Or maybe a new look — just in time for the sunny season to come. In this video, I give Ruth, a member of the Truth In Aging community, a fresh face for spring. I will also give you tips on applying makeup that is beautifully natural — and stays on all day.

Hello. I am 50 and have been told many times I have the skin of a much younger person. However, I definitely see the changes! My comment is about makeup powder. I have tried a couple different kinds and find that no matter how light I use it or where I use it, powder accentuates the tiny creases that are usually not noticeable. I have combination dry/oily -light olive skin, so perhaps it is related to having trouble finding the color to match my skin. Any suggestions.

Touche Eclat is a brilliant light reflecting product. In England it has never been sold in a tube or a bottle, never been described as a concealer or a foundation! Are we talking about the same product? It is a light reflecting product used by professionals working in the TV and film industry. I apply it on top of a concealer and it does it's job brilliantly!

Ruth looks incredible! Especially the more natural look. Along with a list of product suggestions, I think a brief numbered list of steps (written out) would be really really helpful. Thanks for the tips!

Ruth, you look younger, brighter, happier.

Marta, thank you for using a normal woman as opposed to an eighteen-year-old with perfect skin. I agree with Tiffany, please give us the names of products used.

    Ruth, you look wonderful!

I was wondering if it would be possible to get the names of the products used in the video?

I know, I know..how lucky am I to have won this makeover and TIA products! Had great fun. I truly felt wonderful later - rejuvenated, fresh, and NOT like anyone else, but (the real) me with Kristen's perfect application - a light touch with the products, which all felt clean, lovely and healthy. No masked feeling - but a natural healthy vibrance. I learned that the right makeup (and layering) will give you that boost and take away that tired look - and feeling. Absolutely loved meeting Marta too! I'm now using my new products and will write in my progress. Thanks TIA for your support!

Ruth - you look so beautiful!

I learned a lot from this video! I appreciate the fact that you used a "real" woman as your model. I appreciate the light touch you used with the makeup -- it looks fresh and natural. I also found the camera angles seem to really capture what you were doing and help us to learn at home.

    Thank You!
