I am 50 years old and of primarily British and Nordic descent. My skin is fair and my face is beginning to show sun damage, fine lines, some sagging along the jawline and melasma on my neck. I was asked by the Truth In Aging team to test and review the Volante Restorative Night Crème ($95 in the shop). I happily excepted as the brand promises that it “visibly helps to restore radiance and transform skin overnight.”
Before I reveal my results, I will first tell you a little about my understanding of the ingredients. Volante products are free of parabens, petrolatum, mineral oil, gluten, sulfates or synthetic fragrance. Most (if not all) of the products contain a proprietary complex called 7VITAE, which is made up of aloe vera, arnica montana, bromelain, calendula, daisy flower, grape seed and zinc. Together, they are meant to enhance the skin’s own ability to rebuild itself.
You likely know the benefits of aloe, so I will skip to arnica montana. It’s a healing plant from nature's pharmacopeia and can accelerate skin regeneration by stimulating new tissue formation. Bromelain is a fruit enzyme that gently exfoliates and brightens the skin while daisy decreases the production of melanin. Calendula acts as an anti-inflammatory and grape seed is known for its powerful antioxidant properties. According to Volante, zinc is included because it is “essential for cellular metabolism and promotes skin healing from the insults of sun, pollution and irritants.”
This formula also contains Matrixyl Synthe'6, an anti-wrinkle peptide that regulates cell activity and collagen production. In vivo studies have shown it to work especially well on forehead lines and crow’s feet. Copper gluconate is included and works to strengthen the skin to prevent sagging.
I have been using the night cream every evening for over a month with my Jenu Ultrasonic Infuser, which is supposed to help products penetrate better and faster. The cream itself is rich and silky — not greasy. It has a nice weight and sinks in quickly without leaving any sticky residue. Consider it a “heavyweight” night cream that absorbs like a lighter daytime lotion. A little goes a long way. The fragrance is pleasant but supple and dissipates as the product absorbs into skin.
Upon application, Restorative Night Crème leaves my skin as soft as velvet. I can also tell that the product is helping to plump up my fine lines and has created a smooth canvas for the application of my tinted moisturizer in the morning. And my face has a newfound glow. But I especially like the improvement in the crepiness on my jawline and neck. Another bonus: I was surprised at the effect it has had on my hands, too. I would massage in any extra and it instantly plumps up the thin, crepey skin!
I highly recommend this night cream for those with mature skin. I intend to purchase more products from this company and greatly appreciate being introduced to this promising new line and allowing me to benefit from this great product.
