I am 65 and have used YBF Correct for years, with little forays into other products but always returning to my favorite. Testing Volante Transformative Eye Crème($75 in the shop) was edifying in some respects. Because it is half the price of my favorite, of course I wanted it to work well — and in some ways, it really does.
I like that this eye cream has no nasties and is elegantly packaged. It comes in a square shaped jar with any easy twist off top. You remove the plastic inner liner seal and there it is: a gel-like lightweight cream you swipe with the tip of your finger. I appreciate this as I am always grousing about the YBF container that often poops out before the thing is empty, and then I spend several weeks getting at the remaining expensive product with the end of a long thin brush or some such instrument. But one still wonders if dipping fingers in a jar is a good thing…
The consistency is delicate, and it easily absorbs into the under eye and lid area. When I have been less careful and put too much on the lids before jumping into bed with a book, I can feel a bit of the cream melt down into my eyes. It never stung, but made me remember to keep it up under the brow bone. There is a slight sheen on the skin after patting it in, which disappears after awhile. Since I don’t wear foundation, that is no problem for me. But you will notice the sheen for a bit, and if you are running out the door, you might not like this aspect.
Its effect is good: My eyes look hydrated and relatively firmed up upon application. However, after sleeping, I feel the results somewhat diminished over the course of the night. My eyes look less refreshed than when I use YBF, and some wrinkling that was gone at application is again front and center. This makes me wonder if the stuff is really a “game changer,” as Marta likes to say. I think a younger person with a less advanced need for skin miracles would find this effective. But at my age, I need the bigger guns.
I experienced no bad effects at all, and love the texture. However, there were not enough lasting effects to make me feel this product was right for me. I have been using it day and night for around 40 days, and plan to keep going until I reach the bottom of the jar to see if time will tell.
