A winning, powdered foundation from a reliably-solid brand

TIA introduced me to an amazing, new-to-me, cosmetics brand and product, W3LL PEOPLE Altruist Mineral Foundation. W3LL PEOPLE (doesn’t work so well if it’s not in caps) is a thoughtful, well-priced and appealing line – I had to love the tag line on the box, "Hippie Tested/Diva Approved."

This all-natural brand’s website says: "We understand our face absorbs 60-80% of what we put on it," to explain the company philosophy: "This mindful approach to beauty is powered by 3 core principles: Advanced Performance, Premium Natural & Organic Ingredients, and Social Responsibility."

The line includes a stick foundation, bronzers, setting powder, shadows, a universal color stick and many more items – all nicely designed and containing only pure organic ingredients, and free of artificial preservatives, chemicals, parabens, silicons, petroleum, talc…a long list of nasties.

The Altruist Satin Mineral Foundation is a powder foundation that is available in eight shades; mine, # 13 (light neutral), a not very pigmented beige, was a good match for my rather pale face. It’s housed in a simple plastic pot; there’s a perforated cover so you can shake some powder to the top and just dip your brush in to take the amount you want to apply.

As promised, the foundation is lightweight and satiny; I found it easy to control the amount of coverage by applying it sparingly and then reapplying if and as needed. The color is not too intense or pigmented – for everyday use, it provides a nice and natural look. I also used it over a liquid foundation and found it worked well as a finishing powder. For years, I’ve used liquid foundation, and that’s what I’m used to. So I was concerned that, as powder tends to, it might be drying or unflattering, but I think it works well even for those of us well into our 50s. And clearly the ingredients, which add aloe, chamomile, and green tea to the mineral content, feel nourishing as well.

I would recommend W3LL PEOPLE Altruist Mineral Foundation for anyone looking for a lightweight, refined mineral foundation that can be layered or used alone. It’s made me curious to try the W3LL PEOPLE Narcissist Stick Foundation   – whoever’s naming the W3LL PEOPLE line has a way with words! I think might work even better for me since I’m looking for a bit more emollient coverage in the drier winter weather.

W3LL PEOPLE Altruist Mineral Foundation #13: Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Ultramarine Blue, Mica, Kaolin Clay, Serecite, Silica, Organic Aloe Barbadenis (Aloe)*, Matricaria recutita (Chamomile)**, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea)* *USDA Organic, **QAI

Emily, thank you for the raving and educated review. I'm happy that the "personality" of our brand makes you as happy as the "performance" of our product.

The Altruist Mineral Foundation is one we take particular pride in. It's weightless, protective formula easily finds it's way into anyone's make up routine.

Thanks for your review Emily and I am glad you are as turned on to W3LL People as I am. I love the Realist X powder, which tones down my naturally pink complexion a treat
