What's Working For Me

I have had such a good run of new product testing that many have made it into my ongoing daily regimen. As I compile a list of what is on my vanity – including some ongoing tests for upcoming reviews, I can honestly say that these are really working for me. I think I will look back on 2017 as one of the memorable years for new and notable skincare.

One of the most impressive is Your Best Face Rescue ($145 in the shop), a 12-day intensive treatment serum that can alternatively be used for targeting specific areas and which, in my case, is just too good not to have kept on using beyond my test. Rescue is a very focused formula with powerful antioxidants that include spin trap, an advanced form of vitamin C and EGCG. I find it clarifies skin tone and firms very effectively.

Talking of serums, I’ll give you a sneak preview of Volante’s Intensive Repairing Serum ($105) as, three weeks into testing, I feel that this is going to be a keeper. I was chatting with Volante’s founder this week and learned that this was her first product and that she really put a lot of work into it. I can discern that – almost from the get go I was struck by the quality of the formula. Look out for my review in the next week or so.

I spritz most mornings with Deciem Superoxide Deciem NIOD Superoxide Dismutase Saccharide Mist ($50) is a unique product that brings added value to my regimen. It is an effective vehicle for delivering an antioxidant-rich form of hydration and a refreshing start to the day. It has become one of those can’t be without products.

For eye cream, I recently went back to E’shee Alpha and Omega Gene Therapy Eye Cream ($284 in the shop) as it had been a while and I was curious as to whether it still lives up to its price point. It does by smoothing wrinkles and delivering clearer, firmer skin. There are devotees amongst the TIA community that steadily repeat buy and with good reason.

However, I am testing – drumroll – MitoQ’s first eye cream. All I can say is that it has been worth the wait. I sometimes gently pat my under eye area just to enjoy how firm my skin feels – positively taut. My review and the launch in the shop will ne next Monday and do tune back then for the details.

Evenings are when I indulge my new retinol, habit. I am using Medik8’s r-Retinoate, which I find to be gently, yet effectively going at my lip lines. I use it all around the mouth, down to the chin and on my neck. My nighttime serum is MitoQ’s Skin Boosting Active Night Cream ($145 in the shop). I wake up looking as if  I had a great night’s sleep regardless of whether I actually did.

Following a test run, I am still incorporating Medik8 White Balance Cleanse ($57 in the shop), an interesting and very useful powder cleanser that incorporates oxyresveratrol to rid the skin of blotchiness. For more intensive targeting of dark spots, I am using Your Best Face’s new Brightening Concentrate ($32 in the shop).

I just want to put in a word for a few staples from Dr. Dennis Gross that always find themselves showing up – if intermittently  –  when some extra oomph is needed: Triple C ($62 in the shop) for when I need a hydration boost, C+ Collagen ($78 in the shop) for when I need a brightening boost, and the Peels ($88 in the shop) (original or ultra gentle) every 2-3 days.

Wow, Dennis that's an expensive cleansing device. I'd love your review of it. How often do you use it, what do you think it does beyond cleansing? Do you think massage can have an effect?

Marta, I have been using The Oridinary's 20% Tetrahexcyldecyl Ascorbate serum in Coconut alkalines and bought the Clarisonic smart profile uplift a couple of weeks ago. My face even surprises me. All the hard edges I was starting to get have softened. I would love a review on the uplift!
