When I had the opportunity to test out Marta’s beloved Your Best Face Correct ($150 in the shop), I jumped at the chance. I’d long been dying to try it out, but the price point worried me—I have had a lot of issues with eye creams not delivering the results they promise.
Then another interesting opportunity came along. I received an email about a special price on another Marta-recommended product: Skinfinite LOL Eye Serum ($49 in the shop). And when both bottles showed up in my mailbox on the same day, I decided to try them both, and see what happened.
Both products claim to fight the same issues: undereye puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines. Ingredients differ, of course, but both contain reputed powerhouses Eyeseryl and Haloxyl. Both also contain a bevy of organics and vitamins, so you don’t have to worry about what you’re putting on delicate skin. Correct also claims to help naso-labial wrinkles; given the relative similarities of the ingredient lists, I decided I’d give the products a try in both place.
Skinfinite is definitely more of a serum, particularly in consistency. It’s an amber liquid that will run off your fingers if you’re not careful (I learned that the hard way the first day I used it). But it blends very well on the skin and soaks right in, with no greasy or slippery after-feel. I was able to apply my foundation right after using the LOL serum without any problems.
Correct is far more creamy and thick. I softened it between my two ring fingers a bit before application. It quickly turned smooth and soft, making application a breeze. There was definitely a slightly tacky afterfeel, though, so I gave my left side a few extra minutes before applying foundation. Everything blended flawlessly.
When I used both products near my mouth, Skinfinite initially gave me a slight, uncomfortable tingling sensation; it faded after a few days of use. I had no such problems with Correct. And then, really, all I could do was keep applying daily, and wait.
I wish I’d taken before and after pictures. The change was gradual, of course, and I used both for just over two solid months – Skinfinite on the right, and Correct on the left. But once I noticed the change, it was a real WOW. As in, now I wear less makeup; NO concealor; and I’m willing to leave the house like that.
Both sides performed very admirably, with significant lessening of lines around and near my mouth, and a much brighter, tighter eye area over all. When I asked a few trusted friends and my normally-oblivious husband, though, every single one of them said my left side looked better. I’ll be honest, I only noticed a difference in moisture. The left side was—is—more moisturized. And for me, that gives Correct the edge. My undereye area is notoriously dry; I have had occasions to reapply cream two and three times throughout the day. While I didn’t need to do that with either of these products, Correct kept me dewier to the touch and to the eye.
Bottom line: both products delivered noticeable results, as promised. If, like me, you need the moisture, Correct is your winner; if you are lucky enough not to need that extra boost, LOL serum is your go-to . Yes, there is a price difference, but I think the consistency of each affects that – two months later, my Skinfinite is almost empty, but I still have a TON of Correct left. Over the course of a year, I suspect it events out in terms of spending.
