Another hit from one of TIA's favorite brands

YBF! YBF! YBF! It's become a household name at Truth In Aging. So when Darrell Owens, founder of Your Best Face Skincare, gave us news of the beloved brand's latest product, saying that we were thrilled doesn't even begin to describe how we felt. But, could YBF top Correct ($150 in the shop), Balance ($45 in the shop), Prep ($80 in the shop), and my treasured Private Reserve ($75 in the shop)? I am happy to report that Your Best Face has done it again! Introducing Your Best Face Clarity ($9-40) - the latest addition to the already phenomenal YBF line!

YBF Clarity combines French clay and Japanese green tea (matcha) alongside YBF's usual lineup of powerful antioxidants, including spin trap, Lipochroman-6 and vitamin e succinate, as well as vitamins B5 and C, to nourish, brighten, and protect skin. It is packaged in single sachets to preserve the freshness of the ingredients, particularly the high-grade matcha used in formulating this detoxifying mask.

Using YBF Clarity is simple and a bit relaxing, but you’ll need a little bit of time. The packaging instructs to mix one sachet of Clarity with two teaspoons of water and one teaspoon of honey. Mix thoroughly and let it sit for 15-20 minutes and apply. As long as you give it enough time to thicken, the mask stays put once applied (though it is still recommended to avoid light clothing while using the mask). After leaving the mask on for  20 minutes, you are to rinse it off using a damp wash cloth (or in the shower).

The results are instant: glowing skin, clear pores, and an overall brighter and renewed complexion. With regular use, my pores have become nonexistent, and any redness or inflammation has disappeared.

This mask is perfect for all ages, whether you are a 60-something with dry, dull skin, a 40-something with hormonal adult acne, or a 30-something trying to keep aging at bay. YBF Clarity is well worth the investment for each mask. And a helpful tip - though each mask is intended for one use, I've found it actually produces too much for a single mask. Instead, I've been using half a sachet and sealing the leftover in an airtight container until my next treatment.

Ingredients in Your Best Face Clarity: french green clay, matcha (japanese ceremonial grade green tea), dl-panthenol (vitamin B5), meadowfoam seed oil, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), sodium alginate, vitamin C (magnesium ascorbyl phosphate/MAP), spin trap (phenyl butyl nitrone), lipochroman-6 (dimethylmethoxy chromanol), vitamin e succinate (d-alpha tocopherol succinate), alpha bisabolol, thyme ct. linalool

Hi Darrell, thank you for the reply. I really appreciate your input. You will be happy to hear I had a “YBF SaturdayNight!” After cleansing my face, I applied Prep and as usual, leave it on for about 30 minutes. I mixed Clarity with Manuka Honey and let in stand for 15 minutes and did a bit of food prep for Sunday. I rinsed off Prep (outstanding product) and applied Clarity (another outstanding product) and left it to dry for about 20 minutes. After rinsing off mask, I slathered with Reserve (near the end of my Rose-have Comfort waiting) followed by Correct and Boost. My pores were visibly smaller (nose is the worst) and entire face looked and felt brighter and tighter. I awoke Sunday morning to a fresh, rested reflection in the mirror! Thanks for another great product! I took advantage of Marta’s special 5 pack of Clarity and the extra trial and sample size products!

    Hi Terri,
I saw your note here to Preksha and if I could jump in and offer some help too I would like to.

I suggest using Clarity once per week, but it would be gentle enough to use more frequently. Because of the vitamin C we include in Clarity, you could use it more frequently if you find an interest in further brightening and toning the complexion.

Preksha's idea and suggestion of saving a portion of the mask for a second use is a wonderful tip. Indeed, though we call Clarity a single dose packet, knowing that some will need a little less when applying just to the face and for those who want to treat down the neck line and to the decolleté would appreciate the extra that's there for such purpose.

Honey -- Before I began working on Clarity, I had never tried Manuka honey and was quite shocked at the price. I have since found some other nice raw honey options which are more cost effective. If you happen to have a Trader Joe's near you, I purchase their raw honey for a little over $5 for a 16 ounce jar. It's not Manuka, but is a great raw honey option. I believe we will see Manuka honey options becoming more affordable and accessible in 2014.

Time -- Indeed, time is needed for the mask to fully hydrate and thicken once mixed. I appreciate though Terri that you mentioned something about the preparation time needed for clarity and hope, with some explanation here, that the time needed for Clarity to set up during mixing isn't a barrier from enjoying the mask.

We considered offering Clarity in a jar, pre-made. Because of the fragile actives in the mask and because of the huge quality difference between this type of mask made fresh versus out of a jar, we felt it was important to only provide Clarity in a packet you mix fresh. We think you'll have a better experience and greater benefits as a result of this process.

I do have some suggestions about what to do with the 15 minutes while you wait for Clarity to set up once mixed. This would be a great time to clean and/or lightly steam the face. Alternatively if you have our microderm cream Prep, you could cleanse the face, use Prep and in that time Clarity should become ready for use.

I am including a link to a preparation guide we've put together and it includes some tips and suggestions about how to make best use of that 15 minutes before applying Clarity.

A printed copy of this user preparation guide linked above is included with Clarity.

Thank you Terri and I hope I've been of some help.
    All my best,
    Darrell

Preksha, how often did you apply Clarity? I have two single use packages I received in a few promos, Discover With Marta and a YBF deal. I was waiting to purchase Manuka Honey as this was indicated the best thing to mix with. Manuka is a bit pricey but I found a small jar (8.8 oz) for $20 at the Vitamin Shoppe. I plan to use it this weekend and take your advise to use only half a package per application. I absolutely love Prep and use it once a week. Thanks for the review. I also thought the prep time was an inconvenience but it sounds like it's worth. I hope it works as well on closing my pores as your experience.
