We’ve all been there.  At first it seems like the perfect match.  Then, before you know it, you’ve become dull.  You know the relationship has become lackluster.  And though you get little out of it, you go through the same old routine.   You rue the time and money you’ve already invested.  But then the opportunity comes along for a dalliance. How tempting.  Will you take it?   I did.

Abandoning any other skincare routine, my latest intrigue was with a duo of YBF (Your Best Face) products:  Control ($160 in the shop)and Defend ($120 in the shop).  The line comes with excellent credentials and cutting edge technology that include peptides, high argireline content and antioxidant spin traps. Control uses ingredients that are meant to help erase fine lines and wrinkles, and Defend intends to also help combat oily skin.

I chose to use the Control as a night cream and the Defend during the day.  Since my skin is usually very oily, already shiny only 45 minutes after cleansing, it does present a challenge.  For the past few weeks I have faithfully followed a routine of applying each product at the correct time (am or pm).  I also used Control under the eyes.  (The YBF line does have an eye cream called Correct and I haven’t tried it, but since I’m still looking for a good eye cream, I used this opportunity to see if this would do double duty.)  During this time the only other product I used was Neutrogena Face Cleanser.  I have to say the results were positive.

The Defend pumps out as a pure white cream that vanished into my skin leaving it matte and smooth.  The best aspect is it helped to stem the oil tide while not clogging pores or causing breakouts.  Although I did get shiny during the day, it was not as quickly nor as oily overall as before I began use of the product. The lightweight, orange colored Control cream also immediately disappeared upon my nightly application, leaving my face feeling moisturized.

As the weeks of use continued, I noticed that my skin tone had evened out and had a ‘fresh’ appearance.  My skin also had improved texture and seemed to retain moisture better during this time.  In addition, I did see some benefit to the under eye area, with the easing of fine lines.  Also important to note, the airless pump containers keep the product fresh and sanitary and the company does not use animal testing.  Although not inexpensive, I have to say both products performed well and did live up to their name of helping to achieve “Your Best Face".
