I recently had the honor of testing Your Best Face Define Lip Serum ($70 in the shop). This is the improved version of their lip treatment with the added Preventhelia, a UV protectant, plus an amazing array of advanced peptides and botanicals. This formula also includes, among other ingredients, a high-end and stable vitamin C, as well as antioxidant-rich olive squalene. It’s a very impressive ingredient list, which was why I was so excited to start testing it. Being in my 50s, I have a few vertical lines above and below my lips, as well as my lip area contour not being as defined as when I was younger. Therefore, these were the main things I was concerned about fixing when testing this product.
To start with, the product is a lightweight opaque cream — not heavy or greasy. There is a light scent, but nothing overpowering in the least and hardly noticeable at all. It goes on smoothly and easily and absorbs quickly into the lip area.
YBF states that Define can also be extended on the nasofabial lines, which is an added bonus. They also claim that this product will increase the fullness of the lips and the contour of the lip line. I was not expecting either the fullness or the contouring, being more concerned with vertical lip lines, but at the end of my 30-day trial, I’m very pleased to see that my lips have indeed become fuller. It’s not an exaggerated fullness like I just had collagen injections, but more of a natural fullness like in my youth. The contours of my mouth appear to be more evident, even without any lipstick. And while I still use a lip liner before applying lipstick, the color doesn’t bleed quite as much as it used to. It also applies so much smoother and stays on longer.
For those that might be concerned about breakouts around lips since this can be applied to those pesky smile lines, it was never irritating nor did it cause any dreaded breakouts. While testing this product, I used Define twice a day — once in the morning and once in the evening. At night, I put a little bit more of the product on my lips as it can be used as an overnight mask for smoother and softer lips come morning. YBF’s formula further claims that it helps with brightening of the lips which darken with age. I have been lucky that I do not notice my lips darkening as I’ve aged, so I didn’t notice any additional brightness from using this product.
Finally, to get to my original reason for being excited to try this product, my vertical lip lines. I’ve never been a smoker, but I do have a problem with the lines. They are nasty creatures to get rid of, no matter what potion you use — and I’ve tried a lot. With that being said, I have not noticed a dramatic lessening of my vertical lines after using this. I will say, however, that they appear to be blurred. I am hopeful that with continued use this product will lessen the lines further. This is definitely a product that I will continue to use to further improve the fullness and contouring of my lips and in hope that the vertical lines will blur even more so.
