Fulls and flushes lips for a younger looking mouth

Posted by Elsa

I am 46 and in all honesty aging is - in some ways - harder than childbirth. I have full lips, and even though I smoked for about 15 years when I was younger, I have not developed any significant lines around my mouth (olive skin and plenty of sebum). However, I have noticed that my lips are not as full as they used to be.

YBF Define ($70 for .5 oz in the TIA Shop) has been developed to brighten and contour as well as improve the fullness of the lips. The packaging is very elegant in silver, blue and black. I need less than ½ a pea size of the cream for lips and it has a pleasant minty smell, not sharp but subtle. The cream is very rich and thick and when I massage it in around my mouth as well as on the lips, I feel a light tingling and a slight cooling effect.

I use it every morning after applying my moisturizer and every night before bed. I do not need to reach for my Burt’s Bees lip balm as often since Define does a pretty good job at keeping my lips moisturized. After the first application that I noticed my lips were flushed with increased color. This is a bonus because as we age we loose pigment in the hair, skin and lips, so any deepened color is most welcome.

This product did the job without a doubt. My lips look more full without seeming overly pouty. YBF used some fantastic heavy hitters such as Pentavitin – regulates and retains moisture in the skin under any condition, Hilurlip – a kind of a filler that if used topically is nearly as effective as an injectable filler, alpha albutin – a safe solution for skin lighting made from a weed grown in Canada, Syn-tacks – stimulates collagen, and Spintrap – an antioxidant that deals with free radicals constructively.  The preservatives used in this formulation are in small quantities but I would prefer to see safer alternatives.

Overall I think it is a great product and I can honestly say that I fully recommend it.

Ingredients in Define:

Reverse osmosis water, xylitol, olivem (cetearyl olivate), Pentavitin (saccharide isomerate), ethehexyl palmitate, white tea (reverse osmosis water, white tea), Syn-Coll (glycerin, palmitoyl tripeptide-5), Hilurip (isohexadecane, BIS-PEG/PPG- 14/14 dimethicone, ethylene/propylene/styrene copolymer, butylene/ethylene/styrene copolymer, cyclopentasiloxane, sodium hyaluronate, xanthan gum, tripeptide-1), vitamin E, meadowfoam seed oil, alpha arbutin, licorice root extract, Syn-Tacks (glycerin, palmitoyl dipeptide-5, diaminobutyroyl hydroxythreonine, palmitoyl dipeptide-5 diaminohydroxybutyrate), niacin, Lipochroman-6 (dimethylmethoxy chromanol), sodium hyaluronate, spin trap (phenyl butyl nitrone), superoxide dismutase, peppermint oil, lemon oil, blue tansy oil, blue chamomile oil, paraben DU.

I'm being very meticulous about applying Define these days and I too think it makes a real difference: softer, darker lips and help for very fine lines.

I've been using Define for about 2-3 weeks. At my age, I don't expect to see my lips change, but I've been pleasantly surprised by Define's role in their feeling softer.

A major advantage since using Define is applying a very small amount to my lips before bed and not needing to apply more in the middle of the night or early morning, which has been the situation for years. Additionally, my lips don't feel dried-out during the day. New to me!

The only change in my regimen has been to add Define (in the dead of winter).

Like VickyL states, I too use Quench lip balm and then Define at night. I find that the Quench stays on forever! I will ditto others comments that my lips are a bit fuller and brighter using Define however I have not seen any difference in the tiny fine lines. This is certainly not a show stopper as I shall continue to use Define. It's a lovely product.

VickyL, Thanks for reminding me about Quench.

Marta, Will Quench be back in the TIA shop any time soon?

Elsa, I really enjoyed your review and I have had a similar experience with ybf Define - moisturized, fuller lips with more color. This cream is very specific to the needs of the lip and mouth area and a little goes a long way.

I first got Define because I was getting the vertical lines around the mouth and it has really softened them. I also apply ybf Quench lip balm a couple of times a day to extend the moisturizing.

Elsa, Thanks for your thorough review. I have a problem with severely dehydrated/chapped lips and most lip balms just don't help. I think I'm going to have to add Define to my arsenal of YBF products.
