Recommended for those wanting to refine skin's complexion and avoid blemishes

Your Best Face Prep Microdermabasion ($80 in the shop) is intended for people looking for brighter, smoother, and radiant complexion. In essence, it is a creamy, anti-aging microdermabrasion product that packs a powerhouse of wonderful vitamins, botanicals, and first-rate peptides. Many people on TIA have touted the clever and effective YBF products and Prep was no exception.

I have been using Prep for about a month and I am very pleased with results. I am 34 years old and have oily/combination skin. My trouble areas include enlarged pores, post-acne marks, light hyperpigmentation, and emerging fine lines around my eyes and my nose. Typically, my primary heavy gun is Retin-A but this month I wanted to give Prep a good run.

I have used Prep 3 times a week primarily as a mask. In sum, it significantly decreased scarring on my face, blemishes, smoothed out a few small hyperpigmentation marks, and evened out the entire complexion. It’s a powerful product when it comes to tackling blackheads. It helped me get rid of blackheads on and around my nose, and especially those areas on the cheekbones where you apply blush and where the pores get easily clogged up. In addition, I found that it was easier to apply my makeup afterwards.

Top ingredients: Alpha arbutin and niacin known for brightening properties; Spin trap, a solid antioxidant that fights free radical damage, speeds healing and reduces  inflammation, and reduces lines/wrinkles; Lipochroman-6, a highly potent antioxidant; vitamins C, E, and B5;  botanicals including white tea, edelweiss extract, and olivem; powerful peptides such as Syn-Tacks, palmitoyl oligopeptide and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3 (Matrixyl 3000), Syn-Coll, There is a very insignificant amount of paraben de in the formulation. YBF makers note that the inclusion of paraben du, the only preservative in the product, results in “average preservative content per formula totaling .098% (the preservative percentages in paraben du are 3% propylparaben, 11% methylparaben and 30% diazolidinyl urea).

Texture: I really liked the granules/mini-crystals in Prep: they are substantial enough for smoothing but not aggressive enough to irritate my skin. The product has a nice “citrusy” smell.

Use/Versatility: YBF recommends using Prep only at night and up to three times per week. Prep can be used as a stand-alone exfoliant that is washed off or as a mask. It just did not make any sense to me to waste so many wonderful, first class ingredients. Naturally, I wanted to reap the product’s benefits to the fullest and have left it on my face for about 20 minutes. I would massage my skin for a minute, leave it on, and after it gets a little dry, wet my face again, massage a little more, and rinse of in a few minutes.

A word of caution to people with sensitive skin. As YBF founders warn, “Prep is not necessarily suited for the most sensitive skin types, but works amazingly well for those with normal to sensitive skin. Prep is better tolerated compared to other microdermabrasion products because we built it in a creamy base that's full of skin soothers and botanicals.”

Wrinkles:  I must admit, however, it did not significantly decrease my lines. The product gets washed off after all, but right after use, my face did look tighter and a bit more supple. What a good mix of peptides and antioxidants in the product can do is to prevent new wrinkles from occurring and repair sun-damaged skin.

Cost: It retails for $80 / 1.7 oz (50 ml) but, as many reviewers have noted in the past, a little goes a long way. You need a nickel size amount to do your entire face. It is a very generous jar, indeed.

In short, Prep will certainly help you put your best face forward.

Hi Marta. I've received my order and I seem to have also been sent a small bottle of a YBF product. It's in a blue bottle with a gold rim at the bottom and it's a pump dispenser. But I don't know what it is! 'Scuse me for being ignorant, but it didn't come with any other info and I have no idea what to do with it.
Thank you in advance. Kind regards, Rachel

i'm just going to chime in with my comment too -- having just placed my order to take advantage of this week's deal (of course, it's summer, so I had to try Skinfinite too, while I was at it...). I have been using this stuff since YBF introduced it, and I think it's amazing. Nothing else has worked nearly so well for me and I wouldn't do without it -- and while it's expensive you need only use a little, a couple of times a week.

Hi Jo, Prep is great for mature skin. The powerful antioxidants really help and the exfoliation clarifies.
