An innovative anti-aging treatment

A powerful antioxidant serum

Your Best Face is one of my favorite skincare brands because of founder, Darrell Owens, commitment to continuous and intelligent formulation. The latest addition to the YBF line is Rescue Face serum ($145 in the shop) is a testament to the approach and is, in my opinion, the brand’s new hero product. Heck, I’ll just say it: Rescue is my new hero product.

Rescue Face Serum is an intense formula that delivers a concentrated dose of YBF’s signature spin trap, an advanced antioxidant, and a palette of well-chosen and focused anti-aging ingredients. It was designed to be the ultimate 12-day treatment – think countdown to a big event, or rescue from a bad one. This little guy punches way above its weight.

Speaking for myself, I really did use this serum in rescue mode. I was recovering from a very bad reaction to medication (one of the symptoms was a severe all-body rash about which I will spare you the gory details) and once stable I needed to get my skin looking supple and healthy. Even my husband (not unkindly) noted that in a few weeks I added on a few years. Darrell sent me a bottle of his new Rescue and I thought, well why not.

The serum is water-based, but has the consistency of a very light oil. One syringe-full easily does the entire face and neck. I immediately recognized the almond scent that reminds me of marzipan and birthday cake and is actually the spin trap. I relaxed and felt that my poor, old face was in good hands. Was it ever, within 12 days, I looked much like my old self and then I wondered if there was an actually an improvement on the pre-sick Marta.

My bottle of Rescue is lasting well beyond a 12-day treatment, which is just as well because I am not giving this up. I am continuing to use it mornings on my entire face and neck, but may at some point move on, as YBF suggests, to one of the alternate modes of using just a few drops with a regular serum. Anyway, I currently follow with a creamy serum such as Your Best Face Control or MitoQ. Like almost all YBF products, Rescue plays nice with others.

A few words on the ingredients, which are a focused list of the essentials. I have already mentioned spin trap, an intelligent molecule that stabilizes free radicals that are spinning out of control. Intelligent, how? Well, spin traps are the only antioxidants that differentiate between good oxygen molecules and damaging ones (ROS). And, by modulating proinflammatory cytokines, they are anti-inflammatory and age-reversing. Rescue also has a relatively new form of vitamin C, aminopropyl ascorbyl phosphate, which is highly stable and effective and is responsible for this serum’s skin brightening effects. Other important antioxidants are ECGC, isolated from green tea, resveratrol, vitamin E and ferulic acid. There’s nothing nasty and the preservative is the benign Leucidal.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to fast track or augment their regimen.
