A gentle brightener for sensitive skin

Your Best Face’s Advanced CE concentrate ($50 in the shop) is like a tangelo for your face, with three types of vitamin C and a dash of vitamin E. I have been using it during the worst weather of the year and it’s really helped with keeping my skin glowing. Marta wrote a piece explaining the differences.

Beyond the C and E, there is an interesting ingredient called alpha bisabolol, an anti-irritant and anti-bacterial that is derived from chamomile. It has been shown to increase skin penetration, which would enhance the effects of active ingredients. Gentle, effective and natural; it is recommended for use in cosmetics – from acne treatments to baby lotions.

Advanced CE Concentrate is a stiff white unscented cream. I found the best way to apply it was to warm it up in my hands and then lightly rub it over my face and neck. Initially, I thought that it would be heavy but, to my surprise, it wasn’t. It actually absorbs to a matte finish. It’s simple, non-greasy formula makes a great base for mixing with other treatments. For my normal skin, I found that when placed it underneath sunscreen I had plenty of moisture for all but the coldest days. Therefore, it may not be enough on its own for dryer skin. I used it only during the day and two to three pumps were sufficient to cover my entire face.

My skin feels very balanced after a month of using this product. I haven’t felt the need to blot during the middle of the day and there’s no buildup on my skin. When I use my cell phone without the headphones, it doesn’t get sticky from the product and if I rest my hand on my chin or cheek, it doesn’t stick. My cheeks feel soft and natural, by the way. I haven’t experienced any irritation or blemishes while using this.

I had been using several treatments for dark spots and hyperpigmentation before testing Advanced CE Concentrate, so I can’t say for sure what it has done for lightening. But I can say that the good results I achieved with other products are being maintained. I suspect this is a pretty effective skin lightener and brightener.

I really appreciate the simplicity of this formula and I see that YBF has several others that could be mixed and matched, depending on what your skin needs on any given day. I highly recommend this product and would definitely purchase it.
