TIA Review by Marta:
The warmer weather has me anticipating languid summer days, but also brings less pleasant memories of oily skin that never feels quite clean in the hot and grimy city. Bring on Skinfinite Purify Facial Cleanse. For really clean skin and refined pores, it is hard to beat. It's fruity fragrance is a stimulating start to the day and the combination of exfoliating hydroxy acids and antioxidants with nothing nasty are worth leaving on while you clean your teeth to get some more of their benefits.

Although I am really loving this cleanser, I must admit to finding it a little intimidating at first. The sleek and modern unisex packaging and prominently featured hydroxy acids did not say "gentle" to my sensitive skin. I feared Purify Facial Cleanse would be too harsh for me. Happily, my fears were not confirmed and I can easily use this every other day and when the weather becomes humid, I can see that it will serve me as a daily cleanser.

The hydroxy acids are lactic acid (an alpha hydroxyl acid) and salicylic acid (beta hydroxyl acid). They work in a complimentary fashion: alpha hydroxy acids are water soluble, beta hydroxy acids are lipid (oil) soluble. Alpha hydroxy acids loosen the glue-like substances that hold skin cells together, shedding the top layer of dull, damaged skin. BHAs also penetrate deep through the epidermis to exfoliate the dead skin cells and excess oil built up in the pores.

Also in Purify cleanser is yogurt extract, as well as having a lactic acid component, it is rich in vitamins, calcium and minerals. Amongst the botanicals, there's antioxidant and astringent raspberry. Less convincing is mangosteen, although it does seem to be an anti-inflammatory the supporting evidence for its superfruit status remains scant.

The soapy stuff is a benign coconut derivative, potassium cocoate and yucca root. The saponins in yucca root not only act as a surfactant but also have anti-inflammatory properties.

As well as being refreshing and cleansing, the ingredients make this a good product for breakout control. It would be suitable for any age and skin type, except perhaps very dry skin.

In the interests of full disclosure, I have to admit that Purify has a product twin. The exact same formula is used in a product by Elena Rubin Skincare called Corpus Cleopatra. However, this is positioned as a body wash. As a facial cleanser I feel it is better value and, since I do really like the ingredients, I have (although I don't generally stock white labeled formulas) decided to include Skinfinite Purify Facial cleanser in the TIA shop.

I have normal skin sometime acne prone and fine lines beginning at 38. I wanted to love this product and while it was fine on my neck and decollete for my face it was not great. I have tried this product twice now with break in between and both times it was like my skin was melted. It was red and rough and took several days to recover. It looks like based on the rating this product was well received for other. Unfortunately for me it was not great.

I've been using this cleanser nightly for about two years, but hadn't realized how much it was doing to keep my oily, hormone-afflicted skin clear until I ran out of it about two weeks ago and started breaking out everywhere on my face. My skin is too delicate for most acne-targeting cleansers, but this cleanser has been effectively keeping my skin clear while also leaving it soft, bright, and hydrated. I will not run out again! I also love the refreshing smell.

I simply love this cleanser. I love the way my skin feels and looks after using it. As other reviews have stated it is great on the pocket book too. It takes such a small amount and it is a large bottle. I don't use it to remove eye makeup. I only use eye makeup remover pads that are oil free and it takes less than 10 seconds. I use the Almay ones which are very inexpensive for a hundred of them. I don't wear a lot of eye makeup though. I will have this bottle of cleanser for a very long time so it is well worth the $30 price tag to me.

Skinfinite Purify Cleanser is my go to cleanser now. It washes away all traces of makeup, does not irritate my eyes, and is not drying. It is also economical: a small amount is all that is needed.

I totally disagree with Debra...I love this cleanser! I use it everyday and my skin always feels great not dry or oily like a lot of other cleansers I have tried. I keep it in the shower as a whole body wash because I love the smell and the feel so much. LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

I hate to be a kill-joy since everyone else loved this product...but I am just not impressed. After several weeks of continued use, I really saw no difference in the clarity or brightness of my skin. In the summer, my décolleté tends to get bumpy and prone to break outs. Purify did not really help with this on its own and I needed a back-up salicylic gel to really do the trick. I also like to get the whole job done in one wash. This product did not get off all my eye makeup (mascara, liner, shadow) and did sting if I tried to massage the eye area. It worked ok with my brush to cleanse the rest of my face. I run out of time and patience at the end of the day and want to get my goop off and into bed. I found a $7 drugstore organic brand that smells citrus fabulous and gets the whole job done in one wash. Sorry Skinfinite...I really wanted to love you!

I've been using this product for ages, and I still haven't run out yet- it lasts forever! I seriously think by the time I need to repurchase, I will have had the same bottle for almost a year. A little really goes a long way.

I have acne prone skin and this really helps a lot keep that under control. It foams up well and I feel like my skin is clean without being dried out by the product. I will definitely repurchase!

This is the first product I tried from TIA. I never thought I could actually love a cleaner or that a face wash could actually make a difference in my skin, but this one totally has. It gently exfoliates and leaves my skin noticeable softer, smoother and a bit more even toned.

  • 5 stars 5 out of 5

I was intermittently enjoying this cleanser for its efficient and very gentle exfoliation when, one morning, I realized I had run out of shaving cream and tried Skinfinite's Purify as a last minute make-do. What an inspired experiment!!

Purify works very well as a shaving solution for 4 reasons:
    1. As it needs a little massaging to lightly foam, one effectively performs a deep cleansing of the face BEFORE each shave. As professionals will tell you over and over again (but you rarely obey), this is the secret to a perfect post shave skin. Even a (female!) colleague at work noticed last week that she has not seen any redness or razor burn on my face for 2 months!
    2. The light foam helps the blades glides comfortably and safely, but still delivers a very close shave. A nice balance of ease and performance.
    3. Because Purify is also an hydratant, it acts a little bit like a moisturizer. So after an easy rinse, the face is not dry. Even better, I could not detect any lingering odor of the "aromatic blend of citrus" they brag about. For a guy, that's a good thing.
    4. Sorry if this does not make the TruthInAging guys very happy, but I must say that a tiny amount of the cleanser is enough for a comfortable daily shave. I have been at it for about 2 months now, and the 6.6 oz is nowhere near finished: a sophisticated shave for a price lower than the poisons they sell in stores.

So, all in all, quite an amazing success: a high-end dermatological treatment through a practical and efficacious process.

Ladies... does it work for your legs, etc.??

This is my everyday night time cleanser and I love it! It really cleanses my skin, helps my acne, and keeps my face feeling smooth and soft. It works great with my Clarisonic, still lathers without sulfates, and removes all of my makeup. I like the big size, I think it's a great deal for the money and has great ingredients. I will definitely purchase this once I run out.

This toner is fantastic. Makes my face feel so revived and fresh. It has helped with my breakouts tremendously. I highly recommend this product to all women.

  • I love Purify! My face started breaking out more than usual and a friend of mine recommended that I try purify, and I am hooked! My face feels so clean and fresh after I use it. And just after using it for a few nights my face cleared up and my breakouts have stopped. I cant wait to try other skinfinite products!

Purify's scent is delightful. Smells just like candy... Nerds or Bottlecaps. Yum!

Hi Bella, I think that this is a great cleanser, but with mature, dry skin it should be used with caution - perhaps a couple of times a week rather than every day. Exfoliation is good for flaky dry skin, but should not be over done.

I'm a little confused, why would this product be bad for people with dry skin? I thought gentle exfoliates were supposed to help dry skin?

    Thanks,
    Bella

I would find this cleanser intimidating, as well, Marta- glad to read your review and how it plays out. I went to the Skinfinite site after reading Mark's latest post and found a couple products intriguing. I'm very leery of cleansers. I find my skin does much better with a good water rinse. Just feels like I'm stripping it with most cleansers. However, exfoliation is a good semi regularly for me. I could see myself using this maybe once every other week prior to a mask. Or maybe every 10 days or so... Thanks for giving it a go. ~jk
