Tested for at least 30 days & reviewed by Kimberly:
I'm sure if you’ve tried any Your Best Face (YBF) products you probably fell in love with them. That is why I was so excited to try YBF Advanced CE Concentrate. I am in my 50s, live in a fairly humid climate and have sensitivities and allergies to certain chemicals used in many facial care products.

Since I have sensitivities to many ingredients, I was pleased to try this gentle new formula from YBF. It contains three different forms of vitamin C, with a total concentration of 12 percent. Not only does Advanced CE Concentrate have vitamin C in the form of tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, but it also contains the highly effective magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP). All stable vitamin C helps boost skin collagen synthesis, but MAP is gentle, usually nonirritating, and less is needed to help boost collagen synthesis and fade those dark spots effectively.

Leucidal (radish root ferment filtrate) is a natural alternative to phenoxythanol and parabens for those of you purists. Plus, leucidal is also know to help prevent microbial growth in your product and thus serves as a natural preservative. Cetearyl olivate and sobitan olivate (emulsifiers) are natural, made from olives, and are safe alternatives to the emulsifier polyethylene glycol, also known as PEG, which is thought to be a cancer-causing agent. Emulsifiers enhance absorption of other ingredients and leave a nice hydrated feeling to the skin.

Also of benefit in this YBC Advanced C Concentrate is vitamin E succinate, one of the most potent antioxidant tocopheryls. Since it is natural, vitamin E succinate is a more powerful antioxidant than its synthetic forms. Rounding out this lovely product is meadowfoam seed oil, which is also a powerful antioxidant and makes the skin feel silky without being oily. Alpha bisabolol comes from the chamomile plant and helps reduce irritation and restore suppleness. It seems to do a great job preventing any extra dryness from the vitamin C in this formula.

As is usual with YBF products, this is well packaged in an airless pump bottle with no light exposure. I have been using it approximately one month and there seems to be plenty left, although I cannot tell for sure. It took about three pumps to cover my face and neck areas twice daily. I must say that I am already in love with YBF products, so this Advanced CE Concentrate was a boon to my regimen. I'm one of those people who would live outdoors if possible. So even with sunscreen, I have to keep on top of those dark spots on my cheeks.

Putting this product through various methods of application revealed that it is indeed a versatile product. It is very moisturizing on its own, and since I live in a hot, fairly humid climate, I often used this alone during the day. Needless to say, my skin felt hydrated all day long. For my night regimen, I tried this instead of a couple of other oils which purport to assist in deeper penetration of serums and lotions. One of these facial oils was YBF Private Reserve and the other is Sweetsation Orchidee Vitae Precious Age Defying Facial Oil. After cleansing, I applied three or four drops of either oil to my face and neck, then followed up with YBF Advanced CE Concentrate. I am happy to let you know that in the morning, my face was still well moisturized and very radiant and clear for a woman in her 50s.

I know I tend to run on and on in my reviews, but this is honestly one of my favorite Vitamin C products. It absolutely does help my mature skin stay moisturized and despite my daily sun exposure, my dark spots are at a minimum and are perhaps even fading more every day. I had absolutely no irritation or breakouts from this product. I can also attest to the fact that its formula is creamy — almost silky — but not oily at all.

I cannot think of one thing that I don't like about this product. Advanced CE Concentrate is a very versatile product, which helps with fading dark spots, hydration, collagen synthesis, and also seems to have calming effects on any redness in my face. I am so thrilled with how my skin looks after applying this product that I’m confident running errands without putting on my "face" of makeup. And by the way, at $50, it is well worth the price.

Our Take...

I’m quite passionate about consistent antioxidant use, as previously posted in my skincare regimen. I’ve used Skinceuticals CE Ferulic for years and PCA SKIN’s C-Strength cream has also been in regular rotation. Both products use l-ascorbic acid, the purest form of vitamin C. Unfortunately,... I've been searching for a wonderful Vitamin C day cream. I found it!! YBF's Advanced CE Concentrate literally melts into my skin, has little to no scent, and seems to be working diligently on the (decreasing!) discolorations on my face. I've been using Mad Hippie for some time as my "base" vitamin C, but am switching over to this loverly product.

I have no complaints or "Cons" with this product. I will purchase again!! Thank you Darrell for making yet another home run with a fantastic product!

This day cream has a thicker consistency compared to other creams and C serums. It does say on the label it can be combined with other creams. I'm going to try mixing it with another face oil blend that was commented by another reviewer. For me I like a thinner cream than blends in the skin better, but the product is pretty good. I felt a sensation on my skin every time I've used it alone. I'm sure it is doing something good it has more natural ingredients too. It is better for cold weather than some other serums because it is thicker.

I've had a few samples of the CE concentrate over time and it's a really nice way to apply vitamin C. It's gentle, soothing and moisturising in its own right unlike other serums which have felt quite drying. Like all other YBF products, you can feel the difference on your skin straight away. Personally for me, I prefer a slightly lighter texture for my vit C serum but that in no way minimises what a pleasant product this is.

I got a sample of this and a few other YBF goodies in a bonus gift from TIA. It was my first experience with YBF and I loved almost everything. Still enjoying my generous samples of the Sandalwood Facial Oil and Hydrate B Concentrate.

I usually use a facial oil for my moisturizer (and eye makeup remover, cuticle cream, etc.) but I really loved this moisturizer, and the YBF Boost which I felt was a similar user experience (silky textures, almond scent). This was a little more moisturizing and didn't give the same bright and tight effect but made my skin feel very comfortable and hydrated.

I would consider repurchasing because I love the vit C and the fact that this is more reasonably priced than the Boost which I also liked. One star removed only due to price.

I've been using YBF's Advanced CE Concentrate for about two months now, once a day in the AM. My skin is sensitive, combination and very acne-prone. I like this Vitamin C and E product very much - it creates no adverse reactions in my skin, absorbs quickly and leaves a nice matte finish. When the weather is hot and humid during weekends, it suffices as my day moisturizer, although I still need to layer on a light moisturizer on weekdays due to the drying, air-conditioned environment in the office. After two months of use, I feel that the Concentrate has left my skin tone more even and brighter. It also seems to have lightened two recent red acne marks a little.

I tried this product through the small sample from the 'Discover With Marta' collection. Although, there was only enough for about 4 uses, the thing that struck me most was that it was completely scentless. I'm guessing there are alot of people that would love that in this world of heavily scented moisturizers. It also seemed very thick but absorbed quickly into the skin. It ran out before I could see results of course, but my sensitive skin had no bad reactions to it and I just might purchase it in the future.

    Hi Marja,
I just saw your comment from November 2 and wanted to respond.

I'm so sorry you were disappointed in the sample and that you felt you were only able to get one day of use out of it. Our samples actually provide quite a few uses, especially since our products are highly concentrated and even when the products come in sachets, they are generously filled.

Also, snipping the corner off from the sample opens it in a way perfect for dispensing and then storing the product for at least a week and there will be no loss of actives, I assure you.

As a side note, we provided the sample of Advanced CE and other samples to you at our cost in the event you might appreciate trying something from a little indie brand like ours. Since you found our sample so inadequate though, the next time you receive one provided by us at our cost, please feel free to return it to me by mail and I'll happily return to you the cost of your postage and then pass along the sample to someone who might appreciate receiving it.

    All my best,
    Darrell from Your Best Face

  • I received a sample of this product, via the beauty box program of Marta's. Since the, very small, sample was also packed as a sachet I could not make use of this for longer than one day. Such a shame. Overall sachet's are a waste of everybodies time and money, but one with Vit C amongst their main ingredient even more. No use at all to try and wrap up a messy sachet in order to use it more days in a row. The active ingredient will be gone, before you can blink.

For sure I am very interested in this product, given both the ingredients and the positive reviews up till now, BUT honestly? There is no way for me to know whether buying this product full size will be a good purchase, based on a sachet .......

I have been using the this cream now for the last eight months. I'm on my third bottle and no long feel I have to cover myself up with lots of makeup. The spots are still there, but they have faded enough for me to feel satisfied at this point. I do like the consistency of the cream on my sensitive skin. No breakouts whatsoever. I now use this cream as my daily moisturizer. I do believe the CE Concentrate has done a good job!

The consistency of this product was that of a thick lotion. It spread easily and penetrated the skin quickly. Afterward, I felt a slight tingling and tightening for the next half hour. After three weeks of nightly use, I left town for a couple of weeks and only took the YBF Advanced CE to use. Having used the lotion for six weeks, my skin felt and looked soft and luminous, and I did not break out along my chin like I usually do when I go out of town. However, my lines and rosacea remained, and I also experienced some drying on my cheeks. Therefore, while I’ve used other YBF products in the past and have been happy with them, this is not a product that I would continue to use.

My skin feels very balanced after a month of using this product. I haven’t felt the need to blot during the middle of the day and there’s no buildup on my skin. My cheeks feel soft and natural! I also haven’t experienced any irritation or blemishes while using this. I really appreciate the simplicity of this formula and I see that YBF has several products that can be mixed and matched, depending on what your skin needs on any given day. I highly recommend this product and would definitely purchase it.

I cant read the label of what must have been a sample from a year ago, but the fabulous orange smell must be this product which has been wonderful asset in eye and lip line defense. I've received more compliments from gals I've not seen in some time I look younger after more than a year's time. I absolutely LOVE the smell and so dab on my eyes and put leftovers across my lips to enjoy the residual aromatherapy :)

I am 62 years old, a hiker for many years, and I reside in sunny Hawaii, which is a double-edged sword as the sun has done damage without a doubt to my skin. Despite wearing sunscreen daily for as long as I can remember, I have spots on my face – lots of them, including one very large spot on the side of my face. Of course my Asian skin is no help; people of my ethnicity tend to have more melatonin and more pigmentation as we age.

After four weeks of using the CE serum (mixed with argan oil), I think there’s a slight opaqueness to my most prominent dark spot. It may take a lot more patience and diligence for my spots to fade, but I do think that the serum helped to brighten my skin. I received another full bottle of the CE serum with my order of the Christmas YBF Gift Bag, so I will keep at it. I also need to find a light moisturizer to use in addition to this serum.

  • 5 stars 5 out of 5

Your Best Face Advanced CE Concentrate no less than three forms of vitamin C, accumulating to a total of 8.7 percent. Each form of C was specifically chosen based on several factors, including stability, effectiveness, and skin friendliness. While the percentages of each form of C used are proprietary, rest assured that the proportions exceed baseline amounts recommended for effectiveness – hence it is it is an “Advanced” CE formulation. Unlike many skin-irritating C formulations, gentleness was not traded off for potency. Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (aka ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate), generously formulated into CE Concentrate, is an extremely gentle C derivative. Moreover, it is stable and is indeed effective at penetrating the epidermis. I have been using Advanced CE Concentrate for close to two months and it’s clear to me why this cream was also named TIA’s Best new product launch of 2012.

    Hi Laura,
Thank you and please let me know what you think of the new CE and if you have any additional questions as you start using it.

CE will most likely prove to be a perfect stand-alone day cream, but we designed it to also layer well -- it pairs great with Restore or Control when budget allows. If you are alternating with Control, I would suggest using CE during the day and Control at night. Marta may want to weigh in too here -- saving the heavy-hitting peptides in Control for night use when the body is in rest and repair mode would and then using CE during the day (because it is light and moisturizing and Cs work great with the skin during daytime use).

The routine I have been particularly enjoying is layering Private Reserve Energy Blend, CE and Hydrate B together. To do this, I apply a drop or two of Private Reserve after a shower, then massage in Hydrate B followed by either CE on its own or layered with Control.

Where CE would pair great with another product at night, is following Prep -- you will be astounded how the two pair up in the eve for a good skin treat and fresher, rested look.

    I hope these tips help!

I'm just waiting for my Advanced CE to arrive. I just finished my bottle of YBF Restore and thought I would see how this compares.

Darrell, I used the Restore at night and Control in the day. Would it be best to use CE at night and Control in the morning, or the opposite? Thanks and I appreciate how YBF is always making improvements to its products, I've loved everything I've tried!!!

I have a lot of hyperpigmentation for years in the sun. I currently alternating between mad hippie VIt. C and MUAC Vit C & E serum. Both have been very good to my skin but I need something more. This sounds like exactly what I've been looking for.

Would love to test this out. I've been noticing more and more fine wrinkles around my eyes and a deeper line developing between my eyebrows. Would love to find something that would counteract these signs of aging

At 53 I am just starting to notice lines and wrinkles and would love to try a product that may hold them off just a little longer.
