The Astara Basic Care Kit - Intense ($94) includes five products in one travel case and is perfect for dry to extremely dry skin types. This is my second go around using the Astara line, and I have to say it is one of my favorites. You will not be disappointed. I am a huge fan, and I can see a difference in my 48-year-old skin since using this kit. It’s extremely convenient, easy to use and compact, with all the right products in a clear travel bag.
The first product that I used was the Botanical Cleansing Gele ($19/2 oz). I used a very small amount on my damp skin, massaging to remove all my makeup. It did not have a harsh smell and didn't sting my eyes. I loved that it foamed slightly and was very easy to wash away. You can smell the citrus and lavender oils. It left my skin feeling clean but not overly dry. I did however have to use a separate eye makeup remover to remove all my mascara.
The second product is the Daily Refining Scrub ($19/2 oz). This all-natural, gentle scrub could be used every day and removes all the dead surface layers, dirt and remaining make-up left on your skin. I would use a small amount of the Botanical Cleaning Gele while my skin was still moist and gently scrub my entire face and neck. It has a wonderful grapefruit and orange scent. The scrub’s granules were very fine and extremely gentle. It made my skin smoother and my pores seemed to diminish. The scrub stimulates my circulation, so my skin absorbs my moisturizer better.
The third product is the AHA Nutrient Toning Essence ($18/2 oz). I don’t happen to be a fan of toners because they tend to dry out my skin, but this wasn't the case with this one. I used a cotton ball to apply a small amount to my face and neck. It did leave my face with a very clean feeling. I would alternate between the scrub and toner. This toner has vitamin C and lactic acid, so my skin looked brighter and more rejuvenated. It has a pleasant smell and feels terrific.
The fourth is the Activated Antioxidant Infusion ($54/1.3 oz). This was by far my favorite product. This product has a secret ingredient: an orchid (Epidendrum Ibugurnse), which means "Eternal Youth." I found this product to be moisturizing but not at all greasy. It just seemed to sink into my face and neck. I would use this under the intense moisturizer. I noticed a huge difference in my skin. My fine lines and wrinkles are less noticeable now but more importantly, my skin looks and feels beautiful. My skin is brighter and plumper. The combination of vitamin A and C promotes cellular repair. I can't live without this product.
The fifth and last product in this kit is the Radiance Renewal Intense Moisturizer ($54/1.3 oz). This moisturizer is not for anyone who prefers a light cream. This is an intensely hydrating cream for dry to extremely dry skin. It has a highly concentrated formula to replenish moisture so it can promote cellular regeneration. It contains shea butter, castor, jojoba and avocado oils. It left my skin very hydrated and moisturized. My skin seemed to absorb every inch of it. It went on smoothly with a pleasant smell. I noticed improvement in my skin's texture and the reduction of my wrinkles and fine lines and absolutely love this moisturizer.
This is the perfect skin care kit for home or travel. I love Astara's products. They really seem to care and live up to their claims of an all-natural organic skin care line.
