While we all know that washing your face is the first step to good skin care, choosing the right facial cleanser for your skin type is just as important. Different types of skin have different needs, so whether you need to unclog pores and control breakouts, gently hydrate without stripping oils, or soothe redness and sensitivity, the right cleanser will help to improve your skin's appearance and keep your complexion healthy.

These recommended cleansers not only suit specific skin types and concerns, but also contain so many nourishing and anti-aging benefits that they're almost like treatments for your skin.

Dry Skin

Royal Nectar Cream Cleanser ($29) is a gentle, moisturizing face wash containing manuka honey and bee venom as well as oils of sweet almond, jojoba, rosehip and avocado. This renewing cleanser leaves skin soft and glowing.

suki moisture-rich cleansing lotion ($29.95) is a nourishing and hydrating milk cleanser that softens skin, removes impurities and refines pores. It is rich with botanical ingredients such as sage extracts, lavender extract, rosemary extract, grapeseed oil and thyme.

Oily / Acne-Prone Skin

Skinfinite Purify Facial Cleanse ($30 in the shop) contains exfoliating hydroxy acids to clean skin and refine pores, yet it's surprisingly gentle. With yogurt extract and botanicals, it hydrates and refreshes while eliminating skin impurities.

Amarte Daily Wonder Cleansing Foam ($40) is a whipped cleanser containing a number of botanicals to help calm the skin as well as a few anti-inflammatories, such as green tea, lavender, cucumber juice, allantoin, and chamomile. It lifts away impurities and brightens skin without drying.

Combination Skin

La Vie Celeste Exfoliating Mother of Pearl Cleanser ($40) is a non-foaming cleanser that is free of soap, detergent, oils, fragrance and toxic chemicals. It uses Mother of Pearl and pink and white clays to gently cleanse and exfoliate, and it leaves skin soft, silky and hydrated.

Sevani Ageless Radiance Refining AHA Cleanser ($39 in the shop) is a complexion-clarifying cleanser with glycolic acid to exfoliate and brighten skin. It also contains potent antioxidants and anti-inflammatories such as willow bark extract and gotu kola extract, and will leave skin soft and more even toned. Plus, this cleanser can also multitask as a refining face mask.

ReLuma Illuminating Anti-Aging Cleanser ($35) takes cleansing a step further with the line's signature ingredient, human conditioned media. These growth factors have been shown to increase collagen and fibronectin. This scent-free gel-based cleanser will clean skin while providing anti-aging benefits.

Sensitive Skin

Stemulation Gentle Gel Cleanser ($35) has aloe, antioxidants and chamomile extract to calm and soothe the most sensitive of skin. With foaming agents, lubricants, botanicals, and fruit and herb oils and extracts, it removes makeup and impurities without disturbing the pH balance of the skin.

BRAD Biophotonic Sea Minerals Purify Healing Detoxifying Gel Cleanser ($45 in the shop) is a restorative facial cleanser that treats discoloration, irritation, scarring, and redness. Among its ingredients is BRAD's signature Biophotonic Organic Herbal Bio-Infusion, along with numerous moisturizing oils, a multi amino acid blend and Sea Minerals Bio-Ferment Blend.

PureCeuticals Pumpkin Enzyme Cleanse ($33) gently removes surface impurities and excess cellular build-up without irritating or drying skin. Pumpkin contains vitamin A and beta carotene, potent antioxidant ingredients that help fight free radicals and fortify the cellular matrix.

Redness/Rosacea

suki transformative cleansing clay ($48.95) is a skin-balancing treatment that unclogs pores, reduces redness, treats breakouts and calms hypersensitivity for a clearer, smoother complexion. This multitasking facial purifier also serves triple duty as a cleanser, mask and spot treatment.

Blissoma Fresh Mild Rice Facial Cleanser ($31.99) uses natural grain fiber, organic oils and B vitamins to remove dirt and energize skin. The willowbark extract in this non-soap, gentle cream face wash provides gentle exfoliation by dissolving dead skin cells, and also discourages bacteria buildup on skin.

A Device for All Skin Types

Ultra Clear Facial Cleansing System — This powered facial brush was designed specifically for sensitive, mature skin. The rapidly rotating brush heads (1800 micro-rotations per second) refine pores, clarify the complexion and stimulate healthy skin. Your face is gently whisked clean without any brushing or scrubbing. Try pairing Ultra Clear with one of our recommended cleansers!

Hi Martha, I would really love to try the Moana Cleansing Milk, after trying so many different types of products i am still frustrated at the result not to mention how time consuming it really is reading ingredients after ingredients to find the right one. I have sensitive skin, which is both combinations after doing a little research on Moana Cleansing Milk I realized it might be exactly what my skin needs to give me the ph balance the my skin so badly need. So i will be your next product tester... Karren~~~~~

I would really like to try this cleanser because I have been using the same cleanser with my Ultra Clear for many months now, and would like to have an alternative. Also, ingredients are a priority for me and I know this is an organic line. Thanks!
